Does CAPTCHA Block Crawlbots?

Hi,

My client's website occasionally asks users to verify their usage by checking the CAPTCHA box. This is only done once per session and is done randomly. Does having CAPTCHA before content loads block crawl bots from properly indexing pages? Does it have any negative impact on SEO?
