The keywords on my page are moving up, except for one.  I have routinely ranked between 13-15 for one particular keyword.  I am aware that it is a broad term, however, at one point, I showed up on page one at #6, and then dropped right back down to where I was.

The website it "sexaddict.com" and, don't worry, it's for addicts so you won't find anything but help and resources there.  The keyword is "sex addiction."

      Thanks,

      Ryan

        Some more information...

I have attempted on more than one occasion to see who I am being beaten out by and try to mimic, which led to no changes.  Then, I took a Whiteboard Friday cue and decided not to go with what other people have done.  The 6 Types Model is something no one else talks about in this field and I thought that I had hit the 10x on the nose with it.  But, again, nothing is moving.

haha interesting the things you run into on moz.

So, what are you doing for other keywords that you are not doing for this? Also, are you competing with the same entities for the more successful keywords as in the one that you are having issues with? How long has it been since focusing on this one? Have you compared backlinks of this page and better ranking competitors? Have you checked their social feeds and campaigns perhaps?

There are a lot of factors involved for ranking and this is a rather normal situation, I would bet that particular key phrase is one of the more popular ones and with tougher search competition. You can use adwords keyword planner and a couple other tools out there to find out an idea of these things.

The frustrating part of this is that we're doing things the same across the board.  Everything else flourishes, except this.  Other keywords for this page are sex addiction help, sex addiction treatment, porn addiction, internet porn addiction, sex addiction symptoms.

I agree that the competition is tough.  I think the algorithm changes since May of last year have been our demise.  We used to be on page one!
