Duplicate content against what?
-
Hello! I am seeing an important amount of "Duplicate content" errors after a crawl of a site in the Content Issues section. However, I am not clear against what is the duplicate error happening. Can someone please guide me on how know where is the "clone" of the flagged content? Thank you!

Hi there!
Duplicate content can be found in the source code of your site. Regarding duplicate content if/when you encounter it, this article comprehensively explains many different ways to address duplicate page content. It’s also important to note that the tool has a 90% tolerance for identifying duplicate content, so if both the template code and content are 90% the same as another page, it will be flagged as a duplicate.
Here’s a Moz resource on Best Practices for Duplicate Content and more on canonical tags, which is especially useful for e-commerce sites.

If google has crawled and indexed your site thoroughly, you can also do a site:domain search with a short phrase from the content Moz has identified as duplicate in quotation marks. The results will show you all the pages on your site with that exact phrase. I like to use a few words at the end of a sentence and a few words at the beginning of the next sentence for this. If google has not indexed all your pages, however, this tactic will not provide you with all the dupe content.
So, for example,
site:mydomain.com "duplicate content happening. Can someone please"
