What would cause a major drop in ranking for (images) on both desk top and mobile? Web rankings are holding OK?
-
Sometime between Nov 8th and Nov 11th are rankings on Google for images dropped substantially. Our web rankings are holding OK. any idea!

Hey Tony! Do you mind adding the link to the website you are concerned about? I looked at your profile and there are a few links listed within there.
Thanks!

Hello John,
Thank you for responding to our question
The site is https://www.justbunkbeds.com/
Both impressions and clicks for both desk top and mobile took a major hit and almost went to zero, the worst was around Nov 22nd. It since has recovered a bit.
Regards,
Tony

Hey Tony! I'm looking at the site right now. You had mentioned images in your first comment but it sounds like the traffic as a whole went down. Can you confirm?

Traffic did go down around Sept 27th but has recovered a bit since, not fully.
However impressions and traffic from images went almost to nothing.

Hi Tony,
In taking a look at the surface level, here are a few things I'd do with the site:
1. Assess your inner linking structure using the Google Search Console. A lot of the recent algorythm changes have been about your inner linking structure and also links to deeper pages.
For example: this page has 12 inner links: https://www.justbunkbeds.com/dillon-gray-beadboard-twin-bunk-bed/
Your contact us page has 256 inner links
I would look at where you are ranking and start building inner links within your site to pages that are on the second and third pages of Google. You can use your blog for this too.
Also - I'm not sure if BigCommerce allows this but I would also add a title tag to your images. I've seen increases in rankings if you also include a title attribute on images in addition to the alt tag
Finally - building external links to deeper pages would be at the top of my list of recommendations. I hope that helps!

Thank you for taking the time. Appreciated
