Is it a good idea to use custom email subject lines?
-
For example:
"[Insert Name] check out our new products!"
I have heard that spam filters can detect custom subject lines and filter them out as spam.
Does anyone have experience with this?

I have not heard of personalized subject lines tripping spam filters (not saying it's not possible), but it is a good way to increase open rates. A person's name is their favorite word, and they will respond well to it (unless you're being spammy).
Look through your inbox, and you'll see that practically every major company uses personalized subject lines, from Google & Facebook to your bank and phone company. It's an effective tactic as long as you don't overuse it.

And it stands out like a sore thumb when it goes bad! One "Dear [firstname]" email is all it takes to give yourself a bad reputation.

Any examples of acceptable or effective ways of using their name in the email?
