Brush up on the ins and outs of posting to Moz Q&A
-
Thank you, Matt! Definitely helpful for the entire community.

Just a thought, is it possible to get this video in a text format too? I've worked in offices that don't allow speakers/headphones, so there is no way of watching this video. So you'll miss out on the information you've provided.

Thank you for sharing this video! Very insightful for all the Moz Q&A users.

Nice vid, thank you for creating!

Hi Thomas, not at the current moment -- but we are looking into it. Thanks for the great feedback, and sorry for the delayed reply!

Great video, thanks for posting!

I definitely agree with Dirk about this being (darn near) "obligatory" before the first post/question. I would even go a little further and say that it should be part of the onboarding process or first 30-days of a new account opening, like a series of welcoming orientation videos (perhaps even via email).
I've been on Moz on and off for maybe 5 or 6 years but I never knew the Q&A section was so valuable/useful/helpful. All I ever really saw (or remember seeing) outside of the paid tools and MozBar was the Moz blog, WBF, and a little YouMoz. I just posted my first question ever this weekend. Had I seen this video years ago I would've been more engaged from day one.
All that said, I think the Q&A forum needs more visibility. More people should see this video. For 5 or 6 years I took my questions to Google instead because that was my conditioned response when I didn't know something about SEO. I feel it's so much better than just another blog post because here we have multiple people vetting the right answer or different approaches.
At this point, my first instinct is to query the Q&A section. I just think the link was burried a little too long for me to notice. Maybe putting a subtle, non-buried link in MozBar would be a good way to keep the community top of mind. Or a very small pop up speech bubble with a guided tour for people who visit the site often but never visit the Q&A section. Just thinking out loud here.
Good work! I'll definitely recommend this video to others. Really great point about following up quickly, btw! Thank you!

Hi Matt,
Great video!
I truly think that it should be at the Homepage of the Community.I was courious why there are many queries from newbies, ie less than 20 points, very interesting questions without answer.
Well, if it will take me from 5 to 30 minutes to answer a query and no feedback received. Next time, I will think twice.Your video might help by educating the new community members and encouraging all to take time to answer, at least from time to time.
Thank you for the effort!

Hi Cory - Thanks so much for the feedback! I totally agree with everything you say here. While all of your great suggestions are already on our to-do list for making big improvements to the forum, it is very helpful to know you'd like to see a lot of the same changes we're working on.

Hi Verónica - Thanks so much for your feedback. We're so glad the video answering some of your questions. We, too, hope this video (and future ones, improvements to our onboarding process, etc.) will help educate new community members so that everyone in the community has a better experience using this forum!

thank you so much matt, appreciate :)

I love the part when you said “follow your questions” because there are people who ask questions and then later down the line they are not active on their own questions which sometimes is bad (especially when people answering the question need more details…)
Very nice video Matt.

Solid video man. Definitely agree with the importance of checking to see if the question has already been asked and answered before submitting it. Moz has an awesome database of previous Q&A and a lot of time I have found the answer to a question I was going to ask just be doing a quick search on the topic in the Q&A forum.

Great Video Matt, Thank you so much!

-
Useful video! For me, as the one who usually answers, is important to see whether the question has been already answered. That was a good point to mention in the video because otherwise it is very time-consuming to read through all the comments in the thread and check if those answers seem "good" for the one who's asking. Thanks!

Always a nice refresher, very useful! Cheers Matt!

Great reminder!

I don't know why, but since 3 days ago I'm receiving my moz point.
Example
Today I posted 3 answer in the Question section but in my moz profile does not show the 3 moz point that normally I receive for that.I week ago suddenly I received 20 moz point, why I dont have any idea, maybe someone mark one of my asnwer as good answer.
So my point is where I cant found the exact tracking record of my activity

It's always good to have a reminder! Moz Resources is a good platform where you can learn about back linkings, SEOs and guide to social media. As a marketing company big, small or even as a freelancer, we often have our own sets of strategy similar to each other such as blog posts and et cetera to promote the content of marketing. Nevertheless, it is never a bad thing to know more or keep yourself refresh with these contents! Cheers Matt for the reminder to all!

Hi Roman,
Unfortunately, we don't have a dashboard where you can view all of your MozPoints activity in that level of detail. You should receive an email alert, however, every time one of your answers is endorsed, and you track your total points earned over time on your community profile.
I hope that helps!
Christy
