I have a eCommerce site and the site structure is domain/product-name rather than domain/product-category/product-name

Do you think this will have a negative impact SEO Wise? I have seen that some of my individual product pages do get better rankings than my categories.

        Hi Steven,

The structure of the URLs is a question of matter to many people. Let me recommend you other 3 Q&A question that have concerns like yours.

Which URL structure should I use? - Moz Q&A
        Optimizing an e-commerce website - Moz Q&A
        Ecommerce question - overoptimisation - Moz Q&A

Hope its help full. Personally i don't think that there is a specific answer to what you're asking.

True - potential impact can't be seen. But we have few awesome articles about this:
          http://www.stateofdigital.com/optimising-urls-seo-ux/
          https://moz.com/blog/site-architecture-for-seo
          https://moz.com/blog/ugly-seo-mess-recovery-case-study <- checkout "flat structure"

So you now don't have silo structure in your site and he didn't works works. There are many authors about silo structure - Yoast, Bruce Clay, Glenn Gabe, etc. I can suggest to educate little bit about that and implement some structure. Of course redirect 301 old pages to new ones.

Category pages are useful to help users browse deeper into your site; however, I doubt you are seeing significant SEO impact from not having your category folder in your product URLs. In general, it's usually better to keep a page at the same URL rather than to move it, and having a slightly more "SEO-friendly" URL wouldn't provide enough SEO benefit to be worth the risk and hassle that moving all of your product pages would take. I think it's fine to leave it how it is.
