Internal links - OpenSiteExplorer vs Webmaster tools

Hi guys,

I run Opensiteexplorer on the website www.fazland.com (in italian...). (https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=www.fazland.com)

It only shows ca 240 internal links where I know there are plenty more also shown in Google Webmaster Tools. I cannot figure out why it can crawl so few links - Google shows 79.000 links found and internal links are pretty well established. Any suggestions from your experience on this difference?

Hi Roberto

This is just the way tools go - different vendors with different crawlers show different numbers of links - both external and internal. It's impossible to be exact for these crawlers, let alone match up what they find 1 to 1 with another crawler. You'll always see different data.

You can learn more about Google Webmaster Tools crawls here and Open Site Explorer here. I suggest reading up so you know the differences and what to expect.

If you want a live external and internal link count - try ScreamingFrog - there are multiple ways to set up a crawl with it and you can get pretty granular with the data.
