      Hi Mozers,

Since 7 years, I've learned a lot about SEO, analytics, local, PPC,... from sources like Moz, Distilled, Market Motive,... and I'm using tools like Moz Analytics, Majestic, SEMrush, Wordstream,... but I've some difficulties to transform my knowlegde into products/services that I could sell as an freelance consultant.

Audits is an example of easy product that I could sell but have you another examples of "easy" products that I could developp as an freelance consultant?

      Thank you for your help.

      Jonathan

        Hi Jonathan,

Have you considered looking at what your competition are doing in terms of products in relation to SEO and digital marketing. Many of them will have this all packaged on their websites so you can take a look and get an idea what they are doing and make your own versions...

I am sure you know who you are competing against in your market but if not just Google some location specific terms and have a look at their services, packages, etc.

You could also have a look at the Moz recommended companies list - http://moz.com/community/recommended

Simple I know, but hope this helps and good luck 😄

Jonathan, the best way to start is by placing the problems at the front of you and see what problems are important and whose solutions are not easily available. When you say audit, the first thing that comes in to my mind is Screaming Frog. If you can make something more amazing and detailed then screaming Frog you should go for it.

Same goes for others. The idea is simple, place the problems at the front of you, think about the solution you have, see what other products offer the same and see if you can come up with a better option.

If you are going to come up with yet another product in the market, you will not survive in the market for a longer period of time.

          Just a thought!

            I really agree with Moosa.

Much of the time, people who need help don't know what product they need.  They need a smart person to diagnose a problem and carry through with the work of fixing it.

When I have a problem there has never been a product to solve it, the solution is usually finding expertise and that is a custom solution every time.

Egol I agree that a bespoke solution is always best and a decent consultant will guide a client as to what they need and what will work best in their situation. However I believe it is possible to create certain "products" or packages to offer as a basic solution and then further tailor them to the clients needs - I have seen agencies work like this and produce results for clients.

If you offer specific products or packages as a technique to initiate work with a new client then you can further enhance this and tailor it to a specific client with your own knowledge making it bespoke. This is where you need to sense check what the client is asking for in order to make sure it will work for them and achieve results.

Obviously an audit is a great start as this "product" will allow you to get a picture of where the site is and what needs doing.

Somebody comes to you wanting to rank for their business or service locally -

Another example of a "product" that is often offered is a local SEO package or process that lots of companies predefine and seem to have a lot of success with. You could even say that is what Moz do this with Moz Local to an extent - offering a product that takes care of a specific aspect of Local SEO.

As we are in agreement that a custom solution is always best -

Probably the best "product" would be a set amount of time for an initial consultation to help diagnose the persons needs...

                Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your time and your help, I've found a lot of example of "SEO products" in the Moz's listing.

                Regards,

                Jonathan
