What is the Average Pogo Rate?

I've created a custom Google Segment which you can find here.

Segment Settings:

• Organic Traffic
• Sessions with 1 visit.
• Sessions with less than 15 seconds time on site.

To calculate Pogo rate then I looked at Pogo vs. Total organic and got the percentage of Pogo sessions.

I tested a group of 20 sites and got 53% on average with a high of 87% and a low of 33%.

What do you get? Any interesting insights?

I have some high some low i think the key is to view it how we view bounce rates as a benchmark to improve - but the math is a bit wrong since you are making an assumption people are going to another search result so it isnt a true pogo but i guess its better then no metric.

Yeah in no way is this a perfect equation, because the only way to get that is to have access to Google's database but I think it can serve as a good starting point. Even if we took SEO out of the equation, if 50% of your organic visitors are bouncing within 15 seconds, that doesn't sound good.

i would love to see an analysis of the relationship between bounce rate and this new pogo rate:)
