      Hello everyone,

I am managing an ecommerce website and I am not sure what policy I need to make for a lot of the product pages. The Product pages, example Givency Bag, go live on a specific date and go down in a few days... like Groupon.

Please shed some light in this dark tunnel.
      Thanks and regards,

If I have understood the question correctly I would worry less about the product pages themselves, and focus more on the category pages, in the instance above Givency Bag - dont worry too much about the product description if your taking the page down within a few days, concentrate on getting decent unique content onto the category page, meaning the category page will rank high in SERPs for bags and when someone clicks on that page they see the latest deals.

Alternatively you could leave the pages up but just remove the option to buy, stating that this deal has passed, but you may also like these similar products.

          Hello Ahalliday,

          First... apology for the delay.

Thankyou very much for the answer you have put here... it makes sense for sure.

If I may put an extension to the problem... what about at the architecture level. I do not want to cause indexation bloat... so I only want the right pages indexed and not all of them... so I want to put a policy in place for rel=nofollow OR exclusion with Robots.txt and I also need to clarify some rel=cannonical stuff.

Attached is an image of the architecture I have in mind. Let me know what you think about it.

          Regards,

          Talha
