Outbound Links as References - use nofollow or not?
-
Hey People

We run an ecommerce site and we research and wrote articles on health topics , and we post the references on the articles in posts ( Magento site / Wordpress for articles )
Should I be putting rel=nofollow in the outbound links or not?
I have read a few different posts but none seem to definitively fit my situation.
Kind Regards

Do you trust the links? Did anyone pay you for them (monetary or trade)?
If you trust them, and it's something you'd put in an email to a family member, don't put on a nofollow. If they're links someone asked you to put there, consider putting on a nofollow.
Does that help, or just muddy the waters more?

Thanks for the quick reply

Our writer is a doctor , so many of his references are .edu sites or pubmed trials etc - so certainly the links will be trusted - and I know that if you have inbound links from sites like that they are gold - just not sure about outbound . ย I guess it shows some credibility that the articles are researched ...? ย Just not sure how Google Views those.
Thanks

For sure, go ahead and make those regular links. You have no reason to tell Google that "I don't trust these links".

Passing page juice to sources is a good idea in most cases. Moreover, if you are linking to websites with good quality and unique content, you must pass the page juice for sure.
