Blog links: Going out or staying in?
-
I am a wedding photographer and have a "Venues" page on my website.
Am I better associating the links to the venue's actual website or to a blog post featuring a wedding I did there? (PS: In the blog post there will be a post aiming at the venue's website.)
Thanks!

Hey Ioan,
If I've understood correctly...You want the links to be associated with you, the photographer, and your work (the blog post) rather then the venue as this will not send traffic to your work, which is what I believe you want..
Hope that helps

I just wonder what is best in term of SEO.
This is the link http://celynnenphotography.co.uk/links/wedding-venues/
Is it better to send traffic back into my own website or is it better to send traffic out to "reputable" websites?

Hi Ioan,
I feel this really depends on the message for this part of the site.
If you are looking to showcase photos you have taken at weddings at these locations I would link them to pages doing exactly that. If you are saying... "hey this is a great place to get married" then you should point the user to the locations website.
On a side note apart from being given the exact URL I found this page reasonably difficult to find. I expected to click to the links page and it be found in the list given. I could only find the list when hovering over links.

Yeah, I get what you mean about the silly hovering thing...
But as far as you're concerned, neither way will provide any SEO boost?

In this case not particularly. It is good practice to link out to other sites but only where it is relevant. My temptation would be to use these links to showcase work, particularly as you have some good blog content from these venues. Then within the blog articles send a link to the venue. After all that's where the pictures were taken and if the user likes what they see they may want to book it.
Try to think in terms of the user and the journey they take through the website
