Hi Guys, I am new to SEOmoz and just finding my way around the site.  I currently have two websites up both in wordpress and both using SEO Yoast for keyword / page analysis.  SEO Yoast software basically only allows you to have 1 page / blog post optimised for 1 keyphrase.  If you try to put the same keyphrase in 2 + times for different pages or posts then Yoast flags it up as not good for SEO purposes.  Is this correct? Also how do massive websites go on when previously they would have optimised many web pages / blogs for the same keywords?

        Deborah,

As you're just starting out, thinking about one keyword per page is a good way to begin wrapping your arms around the keyword subject.  It is true that a page can rank for multiple terms (typically they'd be similar terms) but if you think about the keyword as being the key concept for a page and then create your content around that concept, you'll be in good shape as you learn more about SEO.  The more you keywords you try to get a page to rank for, the more difficult it is to get any one of them to rank.

There is nothing wrong with having ore then one page ranking for the same keyword, in fact inking from one to the other can add relevance to the linked to page. the only problem is that because search engines like to share the results around,, you may only get one page returned in results, you may need to optimize in a way that the right page is returned.

          • How come when I create a keyword list, the volume of that keyword per month is not displayed? It is only displayed once the keyword is selected.
