What do you guys think about creating quality pages on sites like Squidoo, with backlinks from that page leading to your website... and then ordering backlink building packages from SEO companies to build up those web 2.0 sites?

My thoughts are that you would be able to get an idea on how good that SEO company is, while minimizing your risk (since their backlinks are going to a Squidoo page), and also increasing your site's authority at the same time (since those Squidoo links are going to your website).

I'm sure this has been discussed before. But what is the general consensus on this strategy?

        Hey JABcchetta,

I'm not to sure exactly how much link juice could be leaked through the method, however I have see 2 articles that you might want to read.  One about SEO through the use of Squidoo and another about links with a section on link juice being transferred.

Here is an article about SEO through the use of Squidoo --> http://www.awebguy.com/2010/06/is-squidoo-good-for-seo/

Here is an article about links with a section about building link authority based on link juice transfer --> http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links

Personally, I'd rather spend that time and money and effort on building the quality pages on my own site, and have people give my site the benefit instead of an external site that I can't control.

You're going to end up with a siht-load of bad back links and a poor back link profile that will leave the squidoo page with little  to no value and which could reflect poorly on your primary site.
