I want to rank for the keyword "breast cancer" so when someone uses the anchor text "The Breast Cancer Foundation" am I getting a backlink  for both The Breast Cancer Foundation AND breast cancer?

Does Google break apart the anchor text in any way that would benefit me in this case?

        Hi there,

It is possible that your site will be searchable for the keyword "breast cancer" and if someone searches for "Breast Cancer Foundation AND breast cancer".

But for that to happen, you need to optimize that keyword first. You need aggressive and targeted optimization since it is a very competitive keyword. And if you do a sample search on Google using that keyword, you'll see that there are a lot of other sites that are ranking for that.

You asked if you will get a backlink for both "Breast Cancer Foundation AND breast cancer". A backlink is when someone links to your site. For example, if the foundation added your link in their site, then you'll get a backlink for that. If you're not linked in any authority or good sites, you wont get any backlink.

        Cheers!

George, just make sure in trying to rank for your primary keyword, don't get "too many" links, too fast, "contain your perfect anchor text", even if it's your brand name. Too many links, similar looking links, are always a bad sign. They are simply manipulated links. You need to get natural links and build more of a link profile, as in reputation. Simple words, something like Brand building.

So get a variation of all your anchor texts, good or bad, even acronyms etc...they all add-up towards your domain profile. Which is what you'd need for your domain to rank for a keyword like that.

          I hope this helps.
