Root Domain Link for Affiliate's Link

It seems my affiliate link: http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 is not being considered as a "root domain" backlink when this link is used on their website.  Is there a reason for this?

This is because an affiliate link is not pointing towards the root... It's adding an another parameter.

Thanks Philip.  I was hoping there would be some SEO value (other than traffic from affiliates site).  Is there any SEO value outside of traffic from the link?

To be quite honest, I don't know. I would assume there is if you are currently using one of these solutions.

1. If HTML code of the http://www.hrmsplugins.com?partners=21 contains a reference to a canonical URL like this:

It should pass along the link juice.

2. I'm assuming your affiliate program uses cookies to track affiliate sales. If you are using a 301 redirect after the cookie is dropped to the root domain. It would help your main url rank.
