Are seomoz ranking in jeopardy?
-
A few weeks ago Raventools announced that they would no longer be able to provide tools based on the adwords API, then withdrew that. Rand commented on a thread here discussing that and made similar noises.
Today Raventools made an announcement as SERP tracking with wording that sounded a lot like it had more than a little influence from Google.
Would I be really paranoid to be wondering whether the Rankings tools in seomoz could be at risk?

This might help- this was just posted by rand on twitterRand Fishkin @__randfish__
Many folks are asking us about Moz rankings data. At this time we have no plans to remove. I'll try to write about this more very soon.

Very reasonable observation.
I think that some of the exclusive rank tracking software will continue to operate though, so won't really affect me.

Hi Matt - I don't think it's paranoid - it's a reasonable concern. That said, I can say that SEOmoz's plans for the long term do not include removing rankings data. We will be running a survey next week to gauge the relative importance of this data to our community, and then considering this over the next few weeks, at which point, I'll likely have more info to share.
Regarding Raven - I totally empathize with their tough situation and decision and I wish them all luck and success. They've been a great competitor for years, constantly pushing us to get better, and I hope that doesn't change.

Thanks for citing that David!

Authority Labs (who were providing Raven with rankings data via API) have stated they plan to continue. This is their only service, so it's probably not a hard decision for them!
