You could change your image names to be more SEO friendly.

For example, instead of "cushionsx890" or whatever, you could name it "replacement-patio-cushions".

          Hi Terry,

I took a look at your linking profile and it shows that your site does not habe enough Branded links/links to your URL...

Google expects a natural website profile to get between 50-70% branded/URL type keywords and the rest [exact]/Diverse long tail.

This is what penguin was designed for finding unnatural linking profiles.

I recommend building some branded links from relevant/ niche related sites. Create content that other users are going to want to link to naturally.

Thanks Donnie. I learned of this at Mozcon, but what puzzles me is that our other site has a very similar link profile and it is doing great. After all, having keyword rich anchor text is what we (used to be) supposed to do!

As a matter of interest, what did you do to determine the ratio of branded links?

              Thanks for your response, David.

I think we have over-used that KW phrase, which I suspect may be part of the problem. Besides, Goog's algo can see the word "cushion" in there, I'm sure!

Google is constantly updating their algo's there was a recent study on Wikipedia that a mozzer did and it showed that most people referencing wikipedia would use exact key phrases, I do however think that Google may treat wikipedia differently.. I recommend getting some branded links from quality sites : )

Here's how to check you back link profile...

Go to the SEOmoz OSE and type your URL after typing the URL click on the anchors tab.

Terrykiwi, have you installed Google Webmaster Tools? Have you received any warning about your liks? I also notice that a lot of your links are coming from pages with very low page authority. Also is http://pipefinepatiofurniture.com/ also yours? You have hundreds of back-links from that site using the same anchored text. "Replacement Cushions" I can see how this could cause the penalization.

                    Good questions!

Yes, webmaster tools is installed: why do you ask?

No, I have not received any warnings or other communications from Google.

Yes, that site is mine. The only place 100's of links could be coming from there with the same anchor text is the left panel menu. Knowing this, I changed the anchor text from "Replacement Cushions" earlier this week, to "Cushions for Pipe Furniture", so I don't know why you're still seeing the old anchor text.

Can you tell me why OSE only reports 95 links?

I ask if Webmaster tools is installed because of the warning message.

"We've detected that some of the links pointing to your site are using techniques outside Google'sWebmaster Guidelines.

We don't want to put any trust in links that are artificial or unnatural. We recommend removing any unnatural links to your site. However, we do realize that some links are outside of your control. As a result, for this specific incident we are taking very targeted action on the unnatural links instead of your site as a whole. If you are able to remove any of the links, please submit a reconsideration request, including the actions that you took.

If you have any questions, please visit our Webmaster Help Forum."

But you say you have not received the warning so OK. Now lets look at the other issues.

OSE - OSE is not real time info so it takes a while for new info (anchor text) to show up. As for the 95 links are you checking patiopads.com  or www.patiopads.com? I see 2,069 links for www.patiopads.com

Linking from your own site - http://pipefinepatiofurniture.com/  and  http://patiopads.com/ are both registered to the same owner. Linking back from 100's of pages using the same exact text link is not a good idea. Especially now that you have changed the Anchor Text. These are unnatural activities and are all red flags for Google.

I think that it would be a good idea to rethink your link-building strategy. Use OSE to see what your top competitor's are doing. Remember with link-building it's not quantity it's quality.
