I've been doing a lot of research lately on link building & I've read a lot about having a diverse amount of links.

Social links, Blog links, comment links, footer links, No follow links, Directory links as well as links with Anchor text URL match, brand match, partial brand match, non-descriptive, and with keywords.

But there is a lot of talk of removing those links that look like a site that's built just for link building purposes.... but Directories are basically built for link building are they not?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they feel links from the following directories would be bad links. (Non-Paid)

      http://www.yoganza.com

      http://www.wkool.com

      http://www.wee-directory.com

      http://www.voicelet.com

      www.hotfrog.ca

      http://www.webdirectorieslist.com

      http://multiplelistingboard.com

      http://mozdirectory.net

      http://freedirectorypr.info

      Industry specific below:

      http://bestautolinks .com

      http://automotivedome.com

      http://automobilebuzz.com

      http://craigsautolinks.com

Thanks so much for the help!

It's hard to say whether they'd be bad links, but I can say with some confidence they'd be useless links. It seems the research and reading you've been doing about link building may be a bit outdated.

Give this blog post a look:

And this post has become an invaluable resource:

Get a pagerank keyword tool (google...)  The higher the pagerank (PR) the better.  PR3 is marginal PR4 is very good anything above that is great.  Remember, the page your link is on is the PR you want to look for, not the home page.  Its not uncommon for back link sellers to have a pr4 homepage but the article you're linking from could be pr0 (useless).  DMOZ is pr7 WIKI is PR7

I dont think your list is a good one. I spot-checked the first 4:

          Yoganza:  PR2

          wkool:  PR2

          wee-directory:  PR0

          Voicelet:  PR1

Thanks for the articles. I've read them through.

The articles I've been reading are all articles that have been written since May 2012 to August 2012 mostly on Search EngineLand & SEOMOZ as well as Digital Marketing webinars from Optify.

I have  PR tool. I threw in some low PR sites & higher PR sites to see if anyone said there was a difference between all my links but I do appreciate the reassurance that I'm on the right track. 🙂

Directory submissions are a form of link building that may have worked before. Even before the Penguin update, directory submissions weren't helping much. You should try to get listed on the following directories:

                DMOZ (if that ever happens!)

                Yahoo paid (build trust)

If there are relevant directories to your business, I would look at getting listed there as well. More to get your name out there for people that are interested in you services.

Other than that, I wouldn't waste much time adding my domain to directories. They are not worthwhile links.

If this was helpful, I would appreciate a thumbs up or a good answer 🙂
