The first suggestion I would make is to remove the links you created to your competitors in your Q&A post. This post will be indexed by Google in a matter of hours. If your competitor keeps a watch on links to their site, they will find this post and then know your exact SEO plan.

With respect to your keyword research, everything depends on how much quality content you can create. Do you have a single person such as yourself writing articles? Or do you have a team of writers who are ready to go?

        Some ideas behind keyword research:

        • locate keywords which offer traffic relevant to your niche

        • decide exactly what actions are desired of the visitors you will attract from these keywords. For example, someone searching for "Victory Park Condos" could be simply researching the area whereas someone searching for "Buy Victory Park Condo" would more likely be a better visitor from a lead conversion perspective. Which is better 1 visitor who searched for "Buy Victory Park Condo" or 3 visitors who searched for "Victory Park Condo"? You need to decide

        • determine not only which keywords provide the most traffic but also where you expect to rank. If you can rank #1 for a term with 1000 searches per month you will likely receive more traffic then if you rank #10 for a term which provides 10,000 searches per month.

First filter your list based on the above criteria. Next, determine which keywords allow you to create exceptional content. Don't write a good or even a great article. You need a "blow the roof off" article. It needs to be the best damn article ever written on the topic. These type of articles take much more time to write, often days. If you agree, then this will guide you to how many keywords you can accept.

good suggestions Ryan! I agree on how great content you can develop... i believe interactive blog that update on regular bases and have its RSS shared on different places can help him increase targeted traffic and natural links pointing back to the website.

Thank you for the advice, that makes perfect sense. This website will not be full of articles though.. it will be an informational website on the real estate firm, what areas they specialize in, what homes are for sale in these areas, and a normal MLS home search. However, there is a blog section. Would putting up a content relevant to certain areas they service help the SEO campaign along?

If it helps, this is the website I'm working on:

            http://www.alliebethurban.com/

            Thanks for the great advice.

Whether you refer to the content as web pages, blog posts, articles, etc. it is all content. It is mostly the same from a SEO perspective.

Any high quality, useful content relevant to your niche can help your site rank . Your role is to choose the optimal keywords for the maximum amount of convertible traffic.
