Hello. I am wanting to add a blog on our domain, blog.example.com, to increase the amount of content on the site. But after going through the Wordpress install however I'm finding out that our platform/CMS provider, MarketLive, servers don't support PHP which is what Wordpress is written in.

This is a huge bummer since setting up a blog on our domain went from as easy as installing Wordpress to something much more difficult.  I have an email this morning saying that ML might possibly be able to find a solution but our site would have to be fully akamaized (not sure what means or would cost).

Before exploring that though I want to see if there is a good alternative blog software that we can completely host on our domain but isn't in PHP? Does anyone have any suggestions?

      Thanks,Dave

Sounds like a hard way to go about it.  However if you were really set on Wordpress there are still other options...

Probably the easiest would be to get a separate php hosting account and have a subdomain of the main site there. ie blog.yourname.com on a php server.  Whoever looks after the DNS just needs to add a single line to the set up.

Marketlive don't seem to give much away about their platform.  I'd assume that is is running asp / asp.net though. If that is the case a good place to start looking at options would be here: http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/asp/scripts-components/blog/

Thanks Mat, I'll explore the suggestions on your link. So from what you are saying i I could host this blog on a different set of servers (that support PHP), HostGator, Godaddy or whatever, and then have ML make an amendment on their side (CNAME change/addition?) to allow this new server access to the domain. Does that sound correct?

If that's the case then it may be a simple solution with the addition of a cheap hosting account.

Yep, that is pretty much it.  Can't say that I would personally recommend either of the hosts that you mention, but the principal is right.  You'd probably need to create CNAME and an A record.
