  • Hi! Are you using clientside or serverside redirects? Since you talk about 301, I assume you use serverside redirects. I think if the rewrite rule is setup correct, then it should preserve the referrer info. But if this is added as e.g. utm_source parameters to the URL, then perhaps you can experiment with the flags set for the redirect rule? Assuming you are working with an Apache server: Looking at https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/rewrite/flags.html#flag_qsa, it looks as if parameters can be kept/appended to the target URL. Else, the setting [L,R=301] should probably work OK with regards to keeping the referrer. Hope this helps Best regards, Anders

  • Hey Alex, I want to be sure I'm understanding this fully. Some questions: Is artificial grass the main product your business sells? If that's right, are you saying that your domain name is something like Alexs.com instead of AlexsArificialGrass.com? And if that's right, are you asking if your landing pages should look like alexs.com/country/city/artificialgrass instead of just alexs.com/country/city? Or, something else? And, finally, I'm curious about the use of a country name in your URLs. Do you have offices in more than one nation?

  • Hey There! Yes, you can set URL tracking via neighborhood or zipcode in Moz Pro. The one thing is, the results of this type of tracking will show you the pages that rank highest from that locale. We can't necessarily pair it with one particular landing page, as we will just pull in the page that is ranking highest for the keyword, but there is definitely this more localized option available. I should also add the proviso here that, in some cases, you may only be able to narrow the search down to the city instead of drilling down to the zip or neighborhood. You can read more about this here: https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-pro-overview/rankings/add-and-manage-keywords/local-keywords https://moz.com/blog/local-rankings-in-moz-analytics Hope this helps and that you'll give it a try!

  • Hey Cesare, Ideally, what you want is: A strong homepage that gives an overview of your company A strong page for each of your core services offerings A strong page for each of your branches. Your "Contact Us" pages can and should have unique, strong content on them with a bit of effort, and as these are your landing pages for your branches, no effort should be spared here. What can go on these pages? Please read: https://moz.com/blog/overcoming-your-fear-of-local-landing-pages and then let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hi Roman, I know the sliders are not working on the page and its because i didnt want to put them there yet. i didnt set any shortcode yet for them because i wanted to first talk with you guys and get your ideas and then set them. so i know about problem. i have already categorize them to type of garage doors but this gallery page is only for customer to see the designs for their home.its not for selling any products or service.people like to see the different designs.thats why i put them in slider. please give me idea for an album of design if you think the slider is not good. how should i put the album of our projects in the web? what should be the ALT? we have over 40 images and as i said i dont want to put for all of them the same ALT. i think that is so spammy and is not a good SEO Practice. give me idea about the alt

  • Good point and I did look into those companies. My main concern regarding their decision to use .com/us is that Nike, Adidas etc are recognised Global Brands and SEO optimization particularly at a keyword level may not be a top priority for them. It really does depend on the company and SEO objectives. In my case: what is best for US optimization.

  • Hi Robin, Local business listings are meant for companies that meet face-to-face with customers or other businesses. If that's not your business model, then Local SEO isn't the right form of marketing for you. Hope that helps.

  • Hi manoman88, Sounds like you know what you're doing and the short answer is yes, what you have outlined above is the perfect use for hreflang tags despite there being slight variations in the product available to these different countries. Cheers, David

  • This is excellent, thank you! I had no idea that mentioning a keyword 15 times in a 500-word copy is something that gets flagged by Moz.

  • Hi Jarno, This happened some time ago and I actually exited the business. In hindsight, what you commented on was exactly correct. At the launch of the business, I had 0 brand queries. A year later, I had over 2000 monthly brand queries. What happened was that the press covered us in print, but we also became a 'resource' for the reporters. Every time they had a question or were writing an article for something related, for example seasonal trends in classes, or newly popular classes, they reached out to us and would often quote us in their articles. Interestingly as well, offline articles in the newspapers eventually made their way online and when i found these articles indexed as well, I reached out to my new-found contacts there and they were glad to link the company's name over to the site.

  • Hi mk I am completely with Martin here. It never made sense creating a domain name with company and product in in the first place. You would be doubling the mistake by bringing it back to a sub domain. In my opinion you either leave it like it is but more preferably, use a subfolder, then 301 all the old site back to the equivalent pages within that. i.e. domain.com/catergory/separateproduct It just doesn't make sense from a number of points running a site just for a subset of products. The site would continually fight with www.companyname.com for link juice. It's far better to keep the whole shebang under one umbrella. Although part of the ranking factor in determining QS is associated with conversion history I would argue that it is heavily skewed towards how the ad text is written targeting appropriately written on page content/headings/meta. Regards NIgel

  • Hi, I'd recommend getting a ccTLD (.cn) and hosting in China or Hong Kong. Also localizing your website with the help of native professionals. Pros: This is the clearest sign to Baidu (The predominant search engine in China) and to all search engines in general. Cons: The domain authority of the new site will be completely independent of the current site and it might be expensive Now, if you wish to use a gTLD and put the Chinese version of the site in a subdirectory. That's fine too. Just remember to add the Hreflang tags. Pros: Less expensive Cons: Chinese search engines and internet users favorite sites that are hosted locally.

  • Thanks for the thoughts. Meta updates was my first instinct, as I have had instant success when making those changes, but there were no meta changes found. Inbound and outbound links is a definite possibility. Unfortunately, I haven't tracked their inbound/outbound links, so I wouldn't be able to compare differences.
