  • As Patrick Mentioned there is no clear one thing to do, i would recommend running your site through screaming frog or looking into crawl errors with Moz and make sure your site is optimized.. ensure that all relevant tags are filled and optimized.. You'd be surprised how much of a difference it can make. Hope that helps & good luck.

  • Did you look up the site in https://archive.org/ ? you should be able to recover lots of the content that was deleted! Its even possible that some was curated across the web as well, if you need some help looking let me know.

  • Hi Miriam. I agree with  your gut feeling. What is wrong is wrong and one should not play games falsify facts and present them as true.... not at least with Google. They are smarter than everybody of us out here. I'll stick with the following tactic: Find a person or a partner in these countries who is ready to genuinely partner with me... or at least is willing to take calls, talk to leads and direct them to me. A local listing will be created for this/these guy/guys when we have genuine NAPs. Focus on organically promoting my website for these locations without local listings.   • Thank you for your answer,  yes we moved from www.example.com to uk.example.com and the new countries will have  us.example.com now since all old links were for the www.example.com UK we are thinking of using the  change of address in Search Console.

  • Landon Patrick has answered the primary question above.  We do alot of work on competitors strengths and weaknesses.  My primary job is to take clicks away from competitors. Not that hard. The best overall tool I believe is www.similarweb.com - though not 100% accurate is comparatively accurate. Semrush useful, I also like Alexa - and the new Moz product in reviewing links and status of same. In Semrush you need to go to the domain v domain sub heading. The graphs & spreadsheets is a beautiful and easy way to interpret where you sit on keyword status with competitors.  On similiarweb - I look at overall traffic, where a competitor is getting traffic from. The referral tab is gold. You can really understand a business and how they are run, by using a combination of the tools above and referring the link Patrick has sent through.   • Thanks.  Realistically the Currency specific pages are purely for google shopping to verify the right price corresponds with their experience - so I didn't really need to have offers in the page. My workaround was to remove the offers in multi currencies for regular page and only show the offers when a currency was selected.  Snippets ( stars ) have returned Kind Regards Martin

  • Teresita, The first thing I looked at was the approximate volume of content indexed in Google for each domain. site:http://radiocolombiainternacional.com/web/ shows 403 results. site:http://radiocolombiainternacional.com/ shows 470 results. site:http://radiocolombia.com.co/ shows 127 results. While the "site:domain" check only offers an approximation, its a starting point to evaluate how Google sees each site. An important question to ask then is "What is the real, actual count of pages for each domain?" If it's on the higher end (close to 400 pages) for both radiocolombiainternacional and radiocolombia then Google APPEARS to be giving much more trust to content on radiocolombiainternacional. If that is true, that's what I would go with  - its an indicator that radiocolombiainternacional has a stronger foundation in Google's perspective. If you have site analytics available for both, that's another path to dive into to get even more information and data that may or may not support that concept though.  Just because a site has more pages indexed in Google doesn't itself mean that site is getting more quality traffic. Another consideration is inbound "follow" links.  What is the total count pointing to each? Using OpenSiteExplorer, radiocolombia.com.co has more inbound links, and what appears to be a stronger internal linking structure as well.  So that conflicts with the Google page indexed count.  Except neither site has very many inbound links at all (a serious challenge that needs to be addressed whichever site you end up with). Because of these factors, I'd need to see more information about each site regarding inbound links, actual page count, etc. Since you say they've got the exact same content, I assume they're on the same programming framework so the technical factor is less of a comparison issue. When I visit the home page for each, they do look identical, so that reinforces the notion that technical factors are going to need to be considered.

  • Hi Adam, My short and sweet answer to this scenario is: A page for every city and a page for every service So, you'd have a total of 30 pages to budget and plan for (one for each of the 10 cities and one for each of the 20 services). Most small local businesses are not going to have the funding for developing 200 exceptional pages ... what I've seen when small businesses try to go this route of developing a page for every possible service/city combo is that they end up with a collection of so-so pages at best and at worst, thin or duplicate pages. So, for a client like a dental practice, I believe that a sterling quality page for every city and for every service tends to be an achievable goal if structured over a reasonable time frame contract. I definitely do not recommend developing a different website for each city. Build a powerhouse and keep working on improving it for the life of the business. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Adam, Excellent advice from Laura. While Google has never taken a stance that I know of against putting all of your locations on a single page (and you'd be doing so on the Contact Us page, of course), it's considered a better practice in Local SEO to develop a unique, high quality landing page for each physical location for the following reasons: Ranking a page that's clearly focused on a single city is going to be easier that ranking it for three different cities. You'll be sending a clearer signal to both humans and bots that 'dentist orlando' is a primary topic for the business than you would be if you're diluting the focus of the page with multiple cities. It's very likely that your competitors will be making use of the practice of developing these landing pages, and you want to be able to compete with that. Establishing a unique page for each office will enable you to link from all of the citations you build to a dedicated page on the website for each. Historically, this has been viewed as helpful in preventing against accidental merges of your Google+ Local pages, though there seems to be fewer cases of this in recent times. Regardless, it's very clear to be able to link your Orlando Google+ Local page and other citations to your Orlando page on your website, where the first thing one encounters in the compete NAP for the business, identically matching the NAP on the citations. It lessens the potential for error. The prerequisite for developing these types of landing pages will be the willingness of the business owner to invest the necessary time/funding to creating high quality pages with unique content on them. If this is lacking, then it's better to wait until the owner is ready to devote the necessary resources to the project so that the pages are an asset rather than a liability.

  • Making phone rings - is the goal most clients want from SEO. Here are the SEO related steps I take to ensure the most calls, and the ability to track them back to SEO and website efforts: Add Phone Number in Top Right Header of All websites Setup a Dedicated 'Conversion' Landing page with a big call to action and phone number. The phone number should be setup using a call tracking service like  https://calltrackingmetrics.com/ (that one's my favorite $5/number per month) Run a Google Adwords campaign to the landing page above Report to Client OR your internal business team the result each month. Tweak and tune to get better results. Those are the main steps I do for each of my client accounts to get the phone ringing, and make sure it's tracable back to the SEO/online marketing efforts. The end goal of course is to show clients that an increased investment in SEO leads to more calls! Than everyone wins Hope that helps

  • Hi there "never" on my end was a strong word - I apologize. What I am saying that without proper optimization and taking advantage of opportunities like those listed above, you probably won't appear for those search queries here in Chicago. My point being - you need to invest in associating your brand with these different regions that you provide services in and have representatives in. Whether it is dedicated on-site content or mentions on other sites that are in those regions, you have opportunities to appear for location based searches. "It seems like what you're saying is that we need to establish locality in every large and small city in the U.S. and order to be found by people who live anywhere in the U.S." Not at all - I am saying people in these cities do searches for hotels / tours / travel packages for different cities/countries around the world, researching where they want to go on vacation and get a deal. What I am saying is take opportunities to appear on hotels / tours / travel package websites in those cities/countries that are legitimate and relevant to your business. Two things happen - you appear on sites in different countries and regions that you legitimately do business in and you increase chances of appearing for location based searches because you appear on sites in those countries and regions. Does this make sense?

  • I'd actually recommend checking out the Moz Keyword Difficulty Tool, and the Full SERP Analysis Report it can generate. That can give you a breakdown of the factors that are most likely helping the top 10 sites for a given keyword rank, which can in turn help you work out what you'll need to do. Cyrus Shepard made a great video on it here.
