  • Hi Michael, It is not uncommon for Google to chose a page title to display and ignore your meta title. Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable has written about this a couple of times, with examples, on the following posts. http://www.seroundtable.com/google-title-tag-13704.html http://www.seroundtable.com/google-titles-match-12779.html

  • How unique is your content? I took a couple of posts at random and searched the text in quotes and a lot of other sites with the exact same content appear; http://www.google.com/search?q=%22The+term+%E2%80%9Cmullet%E2%80%9D+is+rarely+used+in+a+positive+light.+Generally+it+conjures+up+images+of+bad+haircuts,+but+this+fashion+week+the+mullet+has+a+new+life%E2%80%94and+a+chic+one+at+that.+The+%E2%80%9Cmullet%E2%80%9D+skirt+has+been+seen+on+runways+from+BCBG+to+Diane+von+Furstenberg+to+Jason+Wu.%22&hl=en&safe=off&prmd=imvns&ei=f_h5Tr2lA9O48gP83ZEh&start=0&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=911 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=911&q=%22When+it+comes+to+jeans+for+plus+sizes+we+could+go+as+far+as+saying+that+this+is+an+area+for+plus+sizes+that+is+not+lacking.+There+are+a+number+of+plus+size+denim+brands+%28including+straight+brands+like+Paige+Premium%2C+James%2C+and+Citizens+for+Humanity+which+come+in+plus+sizes%29%22&oq=%22When+it+comes+to+jeans+for+plus+sizes+we+could+go+as+far+as+saying+that+this+is+an+area+for+plus+sizes+that+is+not+lacking.+There+are+a+number+of+plus+size+denim+brands+%28including+straight+brands+like+Paige+Premium%2C+James%2C+and+Citizens+for+Humanity+which+come+in+plus+sizes%29%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1040l2372l0l2536l3l3l0l0l0l0l188l373l0.2l2l0 Although your site appears in the search engines for these long exact match phrases - a rather large number of other sites appear too. If you are only copying snippets out from other sites and publishing it as-is with little or no unique content - your pages generally won't rank for very long.

  • I wouldn't have structured it that way myself. i would have gone with something like domain.com/productname for easier readability, but you've already structured it it sounds like. I wouldn't change it if it's already been spidered. To answer your question, no it doesn't hurt. Google sees page.php?c=1234 and page.php?c=1235 as different pages.

  • You should look at the overall root domain links and not be too concerned over links solely coming from just a single site.  300 unique root domain links is by far a lot better than 300 links from dex regardless of its authority or pagerank. High rank on any keyword is achievable depending on your commitment level and budget. Competing pages with 400 pages (mostly from the same sites) is not too competitive but at the same time you need to put in the effort in your side anlog with adequate link building budget. Just focus on 3 basic principles. getting links that are more relevant than those linking to competiton. Links that carry more authority, trust and high backlink count Focus on obtaining higher number of root domain links than your competion.

  • there is an article site that i came across and i was going to put an article on it but stopped myself because i did not understand the trackbacks. it allows you to put the article on the site and then at the bottom is ask you if you would like to put a track back, i did not understand what it was asking me so i did not write the article. Should i have let it blank or should i have put the site down that i want to promote

  • We don't have the unique products that you do but here is the policy we follow: For Non-book items that we quit carrying we either 301 redirect to a similar item or to the main category for the product along with a message on the screen that the item isn't available but here is another idea. For book items that go out of print we leave the item up but have a pop-up telling the customer the item is out of print and we either link to another edition, format or related category. For annual items we have just decided to keep reusing the same sku and changing the details. Why waste all the link juice that may be gained each year by discontinuing an item that hardly changes from year to year but expires each year? For all of our past yearly items we are now 301 redirecting them to our permanent sku.

  • Hi, with this parameter, google don't check all these pages, because google think that are duplicate pages (and it's correct). I think is better to use the meta's. This way you have the control. Bye.

  • Root domain is shown by default. The effectiveness of your canonical strategy would be better figured out by testing through the search engines, as they implement such 'suggestions' a variety of ways.  Here's an article that might help explain why this question is hard to answer: http://www.seomoz.org/qa/view/44947/does-mozrank-follow-canonical-and-301-correctly I do think you're on the right track regarding the canonical strategy.  Now I recommend to do some research as to how Google is responding to this strategy.  When you search for your target terms, which version is showing in the results- www or root?

  • It's a waiting game at this point. If they don't find problems then ask for reinclusion again. Wait 24 hours between asking for reinclusion & seeing if Google reports new problems.

  • The consensus is that even though the content is the same, that it will rank locally using country specific domains.  Can anyone provide examples where this is currently working?

  • I agree with you not to use any extension and will be looking for a code for this purpose.
