Negative effect on google SEO with 301's?
Good on 301. On rel=canon, I did not mean to imply "each page to itself." There are various issues that arise in coding pages, making changes to pages, etc. So, here is a classic: to a non coder, www.example.com and www.example.com/ are the same page. To the bots they are two. So by inserting rel=canon for that page you are saying if example.com/ comes up treat it the same as example.com. For your example, if it were me, manual juicer and highest rated manual juicer are very distinctly different pages. The first could lead to a description of 4 and the second speaks only to one. You have to be careful with this in the SEO because if you get too diffuse in adding modifiers to the keyword (making them long tail for example) you can draw strength from the main keyword page. Sometimes it is good to do, sometimes not....this part is the art of SEO. BTW........what type of OR wine???? (Nothing like a Willamette Valley Pinot....and, yes, I know how to pronounce Willamette!)

Bing indexing
hi, In my case indexation took around 2 months after my manual submission to bing index. It was a long time of nothing and one day blow up almost all pages in bing index and on very good positions. Maybe it only need time.

I have 2 websites with the same content
Hi threebiz, First, welcome to the community! Look forward to seeing you around in the future Since there is a small loss of "link juice" when you apply a 301 redirect, you should pay attention to which domain you choose to redirect and which you keep as the primary domain. Your choice may be influenced by suitability for branding, but if there is no real branding advantage in using one or the other, then I would make sure that I redirect the site with the lesser Domain Authority to the one with the greater. You can use Open Site Explorer to check Domain Authority (DA) for both domains. You can learn more about DA under Metrics, Link Counts and Data Points. If for example, you have Site A with a DA of 30 and Site B with a DA of 20, then I would redirect Site B to Site A, since this allows you to maintain the full domain strength of the site with the greater prospect of ranking. Hope that helps, Sha

Problem? Use no follow with paid advertisers ? Or Duplicate site www.
then ... my traffic stopped! What traffic? All traffic? Google traffic only? Even visits from your mum's blog? If you search for your domain can you find it? and added a few advertisers on my real estate site Do you have nofollow on those advertiser links? Go to Google webmaster tools and look for a message. If you don't have the site on webmaster tools then add it.

Different HTML based on resolution
SEO Wise I don't think there's any issues, though I wonder what resolution the Googlebot reports itself as having. It's important though that you do it the way Chas Blackford states; if you have actual server side code that changes a bunch of things around based on resolution then you might get in trouble. This is an interesting article about using stylesheets to segment mobile layouts (it also mentions Media Queries which are kind smart/new phone specific): http://www.alistapart.com/articles/return-of-the-mobile-stylesheet There are some implementation issues, the most important of which is reliably getting the resolution from the agent. Essentially, you can't guarantee it 100% of the time. From what I've read a combination of user agent string matching and resolution detection can probably get you most of the way though.

CNAME redirect for Press Releases
CNAME is a DNS trick. It isn't a redirect. Lots of hosted shopping carts use CNAME records to make it look like your customers are checking out on your own domain instead of checking out on something like ultracart.com. The destination of the move is usually a subdomain such as secure.egol.com. If you are going to do this you need to have someone who really understands how these things work to confirm that the set-up that these folks suggest is going to work property for SEO. I don't know enough about it to advise but I do know enough about to say that it probably isn't as simple as you describe. I am betting that this results in an SEO inefficiency. If I wanted the press releases to look like they are on my server I would just put future releases on my server unless the PR site has some powerful reason to keep them on their server and redirect to mine.

Google Places - What is the best Service Areas Strategy?
Hello VernonMack, Thanks for coming to Q&A with your question. I'm the Local SEO Associate here in the forum. I think the most important point to respond to in your post is this one. You write: Using the actual physical address, seems to be what google would prefer, but the address is actually on the outskirts of the city and would mean that competitors that have addresses closer to the city center would show up before us. It isn't so much a matter of Google's preference, but a matter of adhering to their guidelines which specifically state that you must use your real physical address. Unfortunately, this means that businesses likes yours on the borders of major cities do not have the strength to overpower the rankings of competitors actually located within the big cities. As you can imagine, this is a very common issue for all local businesses located just outside of metropolitan locations. Google will always view you as most relevant to the city in which you are located, so for your company, that will be El Cajon - not San Diego. I cannot recommend attempting to mash up the city and zip of the two different locales. You can, of course, create content on your website about any work you do within San Diego, but should not expect this to take precedence over your actual physical location. I truly sympathize with the wish to compete for the big search terms, but the usefulness of Google Places depends on accurate representation of data. For now, you are located in El Cajon and should correctly list yourself as such. If it becomes clear to you in future that you need to move locations into the city of San Diego, you will be doing what some other local business owners have done due to Google's handling of location. For some businesses, moving shop just isn't feasible, but for others, getting that inner city address is a must and a smart move. Hope this helps, and good luck!

How "Optimised" is my home page content
I should have been more specific. While the social icon buttons should be present, you should also include the open graph protocol on the site.

Sitemap coming up in Google's index?
That is really strange. It's annoying how Google will index something like the sitemap itself, put then only index 41 or 43 files from that sitemap!

Robots.txt Sitemap with Relative Path
Hi Nicholas, Unfortunately not. The sitemap reference has to be absolute. (You can confirm this by using the crawler access tool within WMT's) I'd suggest that you create a PHP script to create a robots.txt file with the correct domain rather than having to do it manually. Good luck!

Changing TLD type
Both; 301 all pages from xyz.qc.ca to the corresponding page on xyz.ca and then set a change of domain within WMT's too. You might see a dip in rankings initially however you can expect the rankings to return as previous over upcoming weeks. Good luck!

Duplicate Content from SEOMOZ report?
Hi Ian, Sorry tried an online tool, however it is not valid. Best practice method of checking 404 errors is through Google Webmaster Tools or scanning your site through Xenu (but it might take a while). There might be several reasons why those pages are appearing as 404's Has there been dropouts on your sites server lately? It might then be an accessibility issue. There might be broken links (as we've discussed) that is causing these 404 errors. People entering in weird search queries and the fact that the URL is dynamic is indexing them in search results. Have a look, if you have further issues dont hesitate to contact me directly. Thanks, Vahe
