  • Thanks for that. Using what you suggest my site comes in 3rd for prom hairstyles (prom-hairstyles.org) is everyone else seeing the same? Also if I go to normal google the site drops to 450 or so, why such a huge difference? Ian

  • I have alike problem: dozen of 404 errors in webmastertools like this: http://domain.ru/ka...tino-akcia-trexkomnatnaja http://domain.ru/Sa...e-novosti-za-oktyabr-2012 And there's not linkes to these pages from anywhere. Strange situation, cause i've lot's of pages with urls of different length, but not all of theme comes with error.

  • no we use hyphens. Just for the example. And thanks for your answer. I think 3.1 would be an good idea. I thought just replacing the content would be good because then you refresh your content. You do not lose your link love and the event content would be very similar. We do not really want to rank for the old content. We want a visitor to come to the event page and register for the event. Have to think about it a little while

  • Thanks for the advice, I am leaning to towards the redirects as well. I've heard these discussions as well. We're not expecting the keyword loaded domains to increase in rankings because of their name. It's that they are currently sitting in position 1 in google and we don't want to loose this.

  • I also noticed that some of your content on your site appears to be duplicated across pages. While not a penalty, that will not help you. Do you have any messages in Google Webmaster Tools?

  • Sounds like a messy one. Looks like your old server was not decommissioned properly. Private message me if ya want me to investigate.

  • Hi Mark, Have you considered using Google Experiments in Google Analytics to test the pages? You can test variations of pages and their effectiveness by simply entering the different URLs - https://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1745147&topic=1745207 (Experiments is under the Content Menu in Google Analytics) If you want to go down the custom variable route here is a great how to that should explain it all simply for you (I used it myself) - http://www.sitepoint.com/google-analytics-custom-variables/ What are you going to be measuring, in terms of performance, in order to be able to judge which page type has been more successful? The reason I ask is because I am trying to understand how you will define one page type performing better than another.

  • Hi Vikas "The easiest way to ensure that the words and phrases you display to your visitors are visible to search engines is to place it in the HTML text on the page." SEOmoz Begginers Guide Chapter4 http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/basics-of-search-engine-friendly-design-and-development I hope this can help you

  • First, check on the dates you traffic dropped in Google analytics. Then look for any Google updates on those dates. That is the easy way to identify which update caused the drop. Have you got any warning emails from Google webmasters? As your site is still indexed (I checked now), this ranking drop might be caused by some algorithm change. Here are some good resources about Google penalties and how to identify them From SEOmoz blog : http://www.seomoz.org/blog/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012 From Search Engine Watch : http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2141098/Google-Penalty-or-Algorithm-Change-Dealing-With-Lost-Traffic

  • Damien, you have a redirect to the non www version of your site. Try running the crawl again by eliminating the www in the URL , see if that fixes the issue.  (romancebookstore.com.au)
