How many local citations directory listings are recommended to obtain a month?
I would say space them out at 5-10 a week. Each one will need time for approval/indexing so you should be fine. Check out this comprehsive list of site you can get listed on as well. http://searchnewscentral.com/20111026198/General-SEO/the-ultimate-list-of-local-citation-sites.html

Image Duplicates - Does Google Penalize on this?
Cheers Nagul! Give it a go. And let me know when you get ready to publish it and I'll share it around. It would really be quite a useful topic to learn about.

Can this make one's local listing vanish from Google local search?
It's my pleasure, Zack. Now, if your client does serve customers at his/her own location as well as on the road, my understanding of Google's guidelines is that you should show your address and use the Service Radius Tool. I believe this to be Google's preference in such cases. I really hope reporting your situation to the Google and Your Business Forum will yield an actionable answer. Miriam

Where to host viral campaign content?
I recently helped my niece with her school project which involved a series of videos that give different outcomes depending on the decisions you make. This is the video: http://youtu.be/2GpRPFhbZA0 I think it was easier to spread the message as it does involve a serious issue about underage drinking. We managed to get 950 views just on the first video and almost 3500 channel views. I signed up for a Google alert for anything involving the term ' underage drinking ' . Once I had a list of sites I'd see if they suited the demographic of the video then left forum comments that were helpful about the article and left a link to the video. It may have been easier as the video isn't selling a product so people tend to be more likely to approve these kinds of comments. I also made sure i added it to as many free bookmarking sites as possible

Does it matter how the NAP is formatted as long as it's consistent?
Hi SteeleSEO, Good questions here! When it comes to consistency, what you are aiming for is a basic sameness of data, but this doesn't mean all data has to be absolutely identical in all cases, because such a goal simply isn't possible to achieve in certain scenarios. Let's look at your 3 questions: Business Name - this is one that should be identical, but whether this is your legal business name or a DBA, that choice is yours. Pick what you will be doing business as and then make sure that this is, indeed, identical everywhere within your control. Don't be 'Joe's Plumbing' in one directory and 'Joe's Plumbing and Heating' in another. Address - don't be concerned about things like Road vs. Rd. Google is smart enough to understand the meaning of these. However, do be certain that if you have a suite number or other extension that it is reflected across all references to the business. Don't have some listings which say '800 Center Road' and others which say '800 Center Road Suite 9'. That can cause real problems with Google. Phone number - there are so many differences in the way the major directories display phone numbers that it would be impossible for any business to make display identical web-wide. You have to follow the rules of whatever directory you are submitting to, so, do not be concerned that Google can't understand these minor differences. Hope this helps and thanks for bringing such a good question to Q&A!

Google local places
Hi Bilal, Just to clarify, Google Places has been rolled into the new Google+ Local pages, and while there are some changes in statistics, they still exist. See: http://support.google.com/plus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2611197&topic=2566084&ctx=topic I would wait 2 more weeks (6 weeks total) to see if the data begins showing up, and if you haven't seen it by then, I would alert Google to this via their Google And Your Business Help Forum, here: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/business You will need to provide your complete business details when you do so, and hopefully, one of the Google Top Contributors or employees will be able to help you, if the stats haven't appeared by then. Does anyone have experience with ecinity.com as a vehicle for populating local search directories? If yes, how would you rank it as a competitor to Localeze and UBL?
You're welcome, Donna. Sorry not to have more direct advice. A couple of things I noticed about ecinity that didn't thrill me right off the bat was the fact that it seems to be still in Beta, it's asking for my email for me to see what the tool does and the About page is really unspecific. To be fair, looks like they are just getting started and they could turn out to be a super service in future, but if they are already marketing the business and attempting to engage business owners like you, the welcome I'm receiving hitting the site isn't making me immediately comfortable. Again, I know nothing negative about the company whatsoever, and this could turn out to be great, but for now, I don't feel instant confidence. I'm sure they'll improve in the future when they are out of Beta. Have a good weekend! Miriam

Should I diversify internal anchor text
Thank you! For internal anchors, I can't see how Google would consider wikipedia's practice to be manipulative. It is simply providing easy connects for any visitor who wants them.

Videos impact on SEOmoz On Page Analysis
Hmmm...what's interesting is that many folks suggest hosting it on youtube since google is now indexing youtube videos on your site. This way you get the traffic spike from youtube search, and google indexing the video. Here's a link to see all the videos google has indexed for my site. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ie=UTF-8&ion=1#q=site:noahsdad.com&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ei=R3P3T5q-A6eL2AWYmrz_Bg&ved=0CEEQ_AUoAw&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=386d21ff68b140c&ion=1&biw=1289&bih=762 Thoughts?

Online Photo Gallery: drive traffic and increase social media activity
Hi Mark, I took a look at 2 of my competitors who have professional looking websites and who also use www.smugmug.com to host their online galleries. This is what I found. Are either one of them doing this correctly? Company 1: http://companyname.smugmug.com/SF Company 2: http://photos.companyname.com/San-Francisco

Thinking about using a Public Relations firm to post articles
Definitely a great long term strategy! Both velocity and acceleration will be a welcome addition to our new site! Being new I wanted to get a few quick links out there. The domain authority for the PR company is in the 90"s and mine is only in the 20's...right now. I was thinking it might help in the short run a little. My blog is not going to be in place for another 4-6 months so maybe I can do this as a precursor just one time, although after reading your comments I am inclined to do much more research and am leaning towards not doing it. Thanks for your feedback!

How do I correctly use YouTube?
Look at the annotations here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qc_hgpe6eA You can put "Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel Now" or something similar. Some advice, don't think it's tacky to put this on your videos. They are free anyway. By the way, I used to be like those guys in that video. Now I were a suit and lost the accent LOL.

Issues claiming businesses via Google+ places?
Hi Cyril, Owner verification checkmarks have not been transferred to the new Google+ Local pages. I recommend reading this Google And Your Business Forum thread on this topic: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/business/FcPdPDzbMbk I think that will really clear this mystery up for you! Is a website with no images really a good idea?
Hi Dena, I wouldn't say images are strictly necessary, but it would certainly be much more of a challenge to create a good user experience without them. Stock images are cheap and even standard digital cameras can produce high quality photos, so it seems like a bit of a no-brainer to include them given the importance of visual stimulation on the web. Good luck with the client!

Google Plus for clients
You're definitely on the right track. Unfortunately since Google is forcing us to use personal accounts, that's the best way to do it right now. You can transfer ownership of the account if that's ever needed. If you do have the login/pass that was used to create the places page, you could then add your personal account as another admin as well. This question/issue is sadly all too common when trying to set up a G+ page. I think you're going about it the best way possible!

Local SEO Issue: Google Places Listing on Page 8
Hi Jasarrow, Agree, this is a tough one. You mention that there was a duplicate listing way back when. Are you sure there was only one. Go to Google Maps and do a search for the business name, any variants on the business name that ever existed, a search for any addresses associated with the business in the past 10 years and any phone numbers associated with the business in the past 10 years. See if anything odd turns up, such as duplicates of which you weren't previously aware. Martin has given you some very good suggestions, too! Let us know how it goes. Miriam
