Best way to use a cartoon as linkbait
Try to get the cartoon published on other sites. Make it an explicit requirement that any such publication also include a link back to your site -- and preferably to a page on which users can take a further action (e.g.. subscribe to a newsletter). If can make the link one of the keywords you are trying to rank for, so much the better. So if the cartoon were about the crazy world of office furniture: the cartoon would appear on the other site It would include something like: Courtesy of Mac's Furniture Warehouse. Check out their blog about office furniture for the inside story about how this cartoon was created this leads to your blog, which includes the cartoon and the details about how it was created your blog page might also include an email capture field at the bottom (or perhaps a discount offer) This is quite a bit of work. You will have to contact the sites individually with a well-crafted and polite invitation. But it sounds like the effort may well pay off in this case.

Removal of "bad" incoming links
I would not try to remove the bottom level as any sites with lots of links should have some bad ones. I would be more concerned with unnatural linking patterns, if you have 90% of your links coming from blog comments, then I think you may have a problem, but from the sounds of it I would not worry at all. Unless they are porn sites or the like, even then you would have to have a high level to raise a flag. I think you may end up doing yourself more damage than good.

Why is it that so few of my inlinks appear in site explorer?
Thanks for the advice and quick response. I'll try linking to these profiles from pages I know are indexed.

Is this directory submission site worth the money?
I think if you're questioning it yourself, then you already have a big clue to the answer I'm learning the hard way that quick attempts to build generic directory links in the past were very short lived, so building links from sites that I would use/visit myself is usually quite a good starting point, it takes more time in acquiring them, but they're going to be good for the long term. Good luck!

Should a site run it's own affiliate program to get inbound links?
Agreed. If your client has an account with Commission Junction, then they likely have a product or service with good volume. The DIY affiliate programs are good for new or smaller sites that don't have the volume for a service like Commission Junction. Best, Christopher

For this time i am not sure. I am working on some sites of my own and some for clients. The problem for me is that my spanish is bad and my business partner here does not know enough about seo to find me good keywords. One of the keywords in need a lot of long tail for is mando a distancia The other one is : Posicionamiento de web

Too many internal links to a particular page?
Another explanation might be that there are some session ID parameters that are being indexed and totally inflating the internal links to page metric. If you have an ecommerce site or something that is adding session IDs, you could have a huge number of links to the page that are in truth the same link, and Google is recognizing this. Have you looked at the details of those internal links?

Is it a bad idea to build unique sites to build credibility for your main site?
The general response you'll see in the SEOmoz Q&A is towards spending your time on your main site rather than creating lots of micro sites. Arguments for one site include only having to update/maintain one site instead of five the next time there's an update to the software you're using, and not having to do all of your link building times five (if you have four micro sites and your main site). With microsites, you're often splitting up the value of your sites into pieces, rather than having all of the value go to your one main site.
