Are links in sponsored articles juicy?
These sites don't pass the juice that they may have once passed as it become such an easy way for people to pay to get hundreds, even thousands of backlinks in a matter of a couple days without even having to distribute quality content articles. I can't confirm what amount of juice they might pass as I just don't know, but I'm confident it's not the full amount that you might get if say BBC News picked you up outside of a sponsored article. Reason being, in my opinion, is that these sites have just become littered with press releases that are not of much quality (not all, but most). And Google has recognized this and is dealing with it appropriately. In all honesty, who actually goes to http://ezinearticles.com/ to read the articles? Not me. But people just use it to try and get a million backlinks; meanwhile, Google has completely stripped the site of passing any PR externally. Same as its done with Craigslist and other classifieds websites. So, in my opinion, don't exert too much energy on these kinds of releases. They can help get you a wee bit of recognition as it never hurts to get your name out there one way or another, but you're not going to see any significant increase in traffic, if any at all. Your best to focus that same energy on creating relationships with companies that compliment your site, and vice versa. Hope that helps. Marc

Outsourcing Link Building - What Low LEvel Links Should One Start With 1st
I totally agree with Todd that you want high-quality links from trusted sources. Your "free" traffic is going to be worthless traffic if it's traffic that you're getting from low-quality links placed by some outsourced firm that is following your instructions to get immediate traffic and not building you anything that relates to quality or relevance.

What do you think of these mozbar stats?
If the site is not relevant, I would do as Anthony suggests and try to spin it to be relevant. Yes, some links from non relevant will give positive effect, but remember: Most people want to do link building the easy way, if you do it the right way you will end up ahead of them. The best written info on link building (that is still reasonably concise) is contained on this site. Here is the link: SEOmoz Article - Pro Guide to Link Building Here is a good post on directories by Cyrus Shepherd: Conquer Link Directories Again, Do it right for the long term. If you need a bit of immediate punch a few ??? links won't hurt you. Too many will. Also, try submitting to DMOZ and consider Yahoo Directory submission if it is that important for immediacy's sake. Best

Backlinks I don't want
It depends on the site's current set up. Most of the changes will be found within 30 days of them being made if the site is not blocked in robots.txt.

Back-link Quantity
It does matter where. The higher in content is considered by most to be better than lower. I use the example of first paragraph better than second better than third...

How do i remove bad links ?
If Google sends you a letter, the first step is to be 100% certain the letter is authentic. It is possible the letter is fake. If the letter is authentic, Google wants you to make every effort to clean up your site. They intentionally don't call out any specifics. Their goal is not to ask you to remove one bad link but any and all bad links. In my experience, the overwhelming majority of these cases involve actions by the site owner or someone acting on the site owner's behalf (i.e. an SEO). If you have paid for any links, stop paying for them and request the site you paid to remove them. Visit any other sites you used to create any questionable links and remove them. Once you have removed them all, let Google know and your site can be re-evaluated. If you sincerely wish to claim the bad links were not created by you, then you can make that claim to Google. If they don't believe you, your site's links can all be devalued and your rankings will suffer. I would suggest being 100% sure neither you nor anyone acting on your site's behalf created any of the "bad" links. Often site owners feel confident "there is no way Google could know" when actually they have a lot more information at their disposal then people give them credit for. Good luck.

Link Location: In main page or inner "Link" page?
Hi there Maria Jesus. I would strongly encourage building juice to your home page. Establishing your brand or specific primary service by posting and building links back to your home website shows the broad view and not a specific topic to the persons visiting. After some time and verifying that your link building program is taking off, then you can focus on the supplemental pages targeting niche websites with trackback keywords SPECIFIC to each page. As for how they appear in the SERPs, well, if you do well enough you may not just rank once, but if you've done the relevant work, you may even be 2nd as well! The SE's may indent the result, but you're still relevant to the query. Yes. Always follow if you want your information to be found. NoFollows are best left for folders that you need to keep away from prying eyes/spiders.... Best of luck!

Competitive Research
Hi Gary You'll find an excellent Link Analysis Guide at http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20036956-link-analysis It highlights all the important elements to analyze, such as Followed Linking Root Domains and Page Authority. Really worthwhile working through it in conjunction with the available tools in your Pro account. Focus on your own sites' strengths and weaknesses and how you can improve it in various ways, a competitor analysis will give you some ideas for links and such like, though the real effective work is focusing on your own site first and foremost. Hope that helps, Regards Simon

Keeping our old links
You've made the changes already, without making a note of what you've changed from > to? Well, a) Doh! b) Alan's suggestion of looking for 404 errors in webmaster tools is a decent place to start. Add redirects for anything that's throwing up an error. I would imagine it'll be a heavily manual process if you've already changed them, though I'm not sure what your CMS is capable of or if your new URLs were sufficiently thought through to allow you to create a rewrite rule e.g. if the changes were something like from http://example.com/?id=123&name=product&cat=stuff to http://example.com/stuff/name/123 then you could add just one rule for the redirects
