  • Another vote for buzzstream. Use it in conjunction with FollowerWonk on here. Export CSV from Followerwonk of relevant people, search for keywords in their Twitter bios like "Widget Journalist", "Widget Blogger" Import this CSV into Buzzstream. It's something like $29/month, with a free trial

  • Eliathah - I agree.  Blog commenting is extremely inefficient use of time. I wonder how many of the people who promote blog commenting as a method to obtain traffic would pay someone else to put "meaningful comments" on relevant (no-follow) blogs.  I wouldn't and I doubt many people would.

  • _I think if the article is not excessively long for say 10000 words long and available in a single page, both the links will share same value. Of course the number of out bound links matter here. If you have included 50 or 60 out bound links in the domains, definitely the link juice will get divided. But as we cannot tell how search engine algo works, we can only assume here.  _

  • Yes Jungles its a very important part & i consider that very much...  But if some sites don't have much social media and have other things good then we can get a link from there & that would also be the worthy...

  • Sounds like a smart tactic - and I'd continue to do it - but you most likely want to diversify your link profile. Keep in mind that multiple links from the same domain typically don't help as much as links from multiple domains. But if the forum posting are generating you traffic and connections, I don't see much harm in continuing to post. For instance, I have like a jillion links from SEOmoz, but I still continue to post here, and wouldn't stop for the world.

  • _From pure link building perspective, commenting on the same IP blogs may not be adding that much value to the link profile of your website. But do not take it this way. Blog commenting is more than just link building, it is about engagement and believe me when you are commenting on reputed sites that match the theme of your website, it can really drive real traffic to your website. So, please do not post thinks like this – “Great Post”, “Awesome mate, keep posting like” etc. You need to do post comment that adds value to the conversation. _

  • Would you mind sharing some of your list? Do they drive good traffic?

  • Hi Irving, Thanks for the reply. I am never 100% sure they know what they are doing to be honest.  We dropped down after Panda but managed to get back up to top spot using: content - lots of fresh good content some on page changes ( this seo person uses their own software to analyse how our pages as seen. ) This seems good. Very white hat as far as I can see. Then I have another seo company that builds links.  Some of which look prety bad to me.  They justify the not so good links by saying that my 'link profile' has to be varied and these links are needed to maintain that profile. The trouble is I'm not sure who is responsible for us getting back on the top spot.  I am tempted to stop for a few months as you say but we are very seasonal and my season starts in Feb so it could be a big risk.

  • I do not have the website otherwise by looking at the trend I might have helped you better but the situation you told me is possible only when You competitor is very smart Your competitor is really dumb I would build links to my social profile (Infect I have done that in the past) not because of the juice or link value or anything similar but i was more focused toward attract real and targeted users to my social media accounts from where I can build relationships that later can be used in multiple ways...and at the same time this activity opens more door for link opportunities. I would love to build links for my Google+ profile as I am pretty much sure that author rank is going to help a lot in the future. So, if your client have a long term strategy when it comes to social or inbound in general and have some really smart people doing SEO for them then he is using this activity to get more exposure in the targeted audience and he actually wants to invite people to calibrate and engage with him and his business through social media channels. But what if he is dumb! He might be thinking the same that Building links for a social media website like twitter and facebook and then adding a link of a website on social media profile give him more benefits as twitter and facebooks are authentic websites in the eye of Google. If this is the thought... then this is not going to help achieving want he really want to achieve from this activity.

  • Though I am fully aware of the fact that the design of a website has got little to do with the ranking, I believe that you need to change the look and feel of your website. Probably, the interface is causing people bouncing back. So, please let us know the bounce rate of your website. 1.         __ - this is not the correct way to represent Title tag – it should be this – <title>Counseling Denver, Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton Colorado – Home</title> 2. I would rather suggest you to get rid of keywords tag 3. _Fivestarcounselingservices.com has got the following number of pages indexed - 24, Frontrangecounselingcenter.com has the following number of pages indexed – 157. _

  • I would do it only for the most trusted of brand name directories - Yahoo!, Better Business Bureau, and maybe Best of the Web, but probably very little else.

  • Hi Paul, You ask interesting questions, the answers of which are all subjective really. Yes, a wide variety of anchor text is a good thing. As your site gains history, it will also naturally gain a link profile. Every site's link profile is a little different. Some sites, like "Apple" for instance, probably have much heaviier percentage of branded anchor text than your local family-owned computer store. If you are chugging along and all of a sudden something drastically changes your link profile, this might or might not cause problems with rankings in the SERPs. Some wild fluctuations, even in smaller businesses, can be quite normal, particularly if there was a big news event surrounding their business (perhaps they were acquired by a much larger company) or something of that sort. You are correct in how you are defining briand names (IMHO). Yes, it absolutely could end up being your name. In fact, I encourage everyone who works and writes online to consider themselves, personally, a "brand" in addition to whatever other businesses they are involved with. This is one thing that makes Google+ so perplexing to me because it totally confuses personal and professional brands (hopefully they'll sort that out soon). Yes, you absolutely could turn your name into a brand name. It doesn't even take putting it on your site anywhere. I an an in-house SEO for several websites, and one of them, one I built, has "Dana Tan" as it's next most often used anchor text next to its brand "Celebrate Communion." The site is young and tiny, so I assume this will change over time. This came about as a results of my blog commenting where I actually sign with my real name instead of trying to stuff in keywords and be all spammy That being said, when I'm analyzing reports, I do not consider "Dana Tan" to be a "branded search term" for the site "Celebrate Communion." I do however consider it a branded search term for my SEO blog. All that being said, yes, it's a very good thing to have branded search. That traffic converts at a higher rate and a much lower cost per conversion (if you are using any paid campaigns) than other traffic because they are predisposed to you. In most cases, branded terms will be the majority of your anchor text, with, hopefully, a wide range of other terms filling in the rest. Hope that helps, and I apologize for the spacing issues in my response. My Mac doesn't like to double space in SEOMoz. Dana

  • No problem Cyto - there is a lot to consider with this project. I agree Chris, that is why I would only place a followed link on the homepage of the blog acknowledging the association. If you were to link on the other pages then I would tend to no follow them as you don't want hundreds of links from one of your sites to the other - I have done this successfully previously and this is clear that you are not trying to manipulate rankings. That is why having a blog that is integrated on your own site has the greater potential in terms of gaining links as mentioned, but there are the other factors to take into consideration too..
