Using Escaped Fragments with SEO
"I'm not sure what my actual urls should look like and what the canonical should be set to." - Your "actual" URLs and your canonicals should both be the #! version. In your example, I'm guessing that'd be "http:app.tikimaster.com#!v=1", as opposed to "http:app.tikimaster.com?escaped_fragment=v=1". The canonicals (and other directives) need to be placed on the ?escaped_fragment= version, because that's the only version Google will crawl. "how I should be setting up my meta information for Google so 1) pages are indexed timely 2) pages are indexed with the correct information." - You need to ensure that the ?escaped_fragment= version of the page contains the appropriate meta tags. Your sitemap and webmaster tools submissions should use the #! versions. This is a good resource to get started: http://seogadget.com/javascript-framework-seo/

Site URL's
Hi swgolf, There are several factors that would have an impact on your url. You can have a URL with no keywords in and still rank high in a competative market. If you can generate enough backlinks to the url and the previous link was doing well then go for the easiest on the eye and for this smaller is normally best. SE's do pay attention to how your URL is structured however I dont believe this will always be the case now being truthful and if a client asked me to structure their url I would go with golfsite.com/golf-clubs or if i sold multiple items I would go with golfsite.com/golf/clubs and keep it consistant for the rest and have golf/caddy golf/caps golf/balls as it looks as if it's a category within your website as opposed to constant repative urls. You can also go to webmaster tools (google) and see how many variations of the word golf club you have and how many times its repeated if its high then try and lower it. It's a little hard not knowing the website to say for sure, this is just my opinion.

Removing old URLs from Google
I had kind of a 'derp moment'. If you control the same domain, take a look at your historic traffic (if possible) and definitely do a link audit on the error pages. You can 301 the old pages to their newer, relevant, counterparts. I would take that tact before removal.

.com vs .co.uk domain
It may be difficult, particularly if the .com is also a well established brand in the UK. That being said though, it isn't impossible to have your client rank in the SERPs as well for the same brand if you can establish them as a brand entity with Google. For example, here is a search I did for Peak Auto, a well known, established brand in the automotive supplies industry- http://screencast.com/t/ycYugMK876 You'll see there are two other local results in the mix of primarily Peak Auto results. Another example is to search for "Merck" in the .co.uk Google. Some results will be from the US-based company of that name, the other results will be the German company of the same name. And interestingly both are drug manufacturers. So it may not be an easy task, but it certainly isn't impossible.

SEO can id and class be used in H1?
Absolutely agree with Dana here. Stylizing H1 elements is very common, both classes and ids can be used to achieve this.

Why am I not seeing sitelinks for this website?
From what I see when I Google your brand name I get a lot of universal results (images, Yelp, Crunchbase). So that mostly shows that you're still missing a bit of authority for your own site. If you get some more authority based links it's relatively easily to get the sitelinks on for brand related terms.

Wordpress photo blog with sparse text - noindex posts, index categories?
Thanks Peter! Maybe I will give that a try.

SEO for page that is made up of multiple posts
Not to mention time-of-implementation. I agree, SEO is very much is a balancing act. You could embellish the content (add to make it 300 words) to warrant its own page. Then the question is: is it worth my time? Best of luck!

WP tag ranking higher than desired page
Hey cjkimber, That's actually a common dilemma. Many sites prefer to "meta no-index" your tag pages, to remove those tags from consideration in ranking. That way your primary page (and all others) will rank higher than the tags. The easy way to do that is to download the Yoast SEO plugin for Wordpress. In the plugin, you can noindex the content by clicking: SEO (sidebar) > Title & Metas (sidebar) > Taxonomies (tab) > Tags > {Select "noindex, follow"} There are a lot of other tools that will help you out w/ other parts of your SEO in the plugin. Does that answer your question? -- Andrew

Less than 1 subdomain Moztrust
Hi there, Definitely agree with Anirban here - The site doesn't have a good collection of high-quality backlinks from diverse sources (as per Open Site Explorer): http://i.imgur.com/cplbcne.png You need to clean up the backlinks and build a lot of new ones from authoritative sources - check out the link building category on the blog here to begin with - there are years of great link development content in there that should come in handy! Cheers, Jane

How Much Does Punctuation of a Word Effect SEO?
Poor grammar can be a spam signal to search engines. A typo here and there will not hurt you -- but major mistakes with spelling and grammar in every word and every sentence will likely hurt you. There's a middle ground somewhere, but only the search engines know what that is. Of course, I would copyedit and proofread so that all text is perfect. Not for search engines -- but so that users do not see poor spelling and grammar and then judge your website to be less quality and authoritative. In the end, it's all about usability for humans. Search engines generally aim to show what websites users think are the best.

Text in collapsed section
Possibly. This is on DNN which seems to be like a big old clunky dinosaur.

Duplicate content on events site
Hi, I would use a canonical tag and point to the first page of the event to make sure you don't get into any issues with duplicate content. I think it has some value for a user to have all the 16 pages online but for Google it's pretty useless to leave them out there and also notify them that they all exist. Using a canonical will 'merge' them a bit into one.

Does CTR Affect Ranking & Authority? Can PPC Influence That Too?
Hi there, Since Domain Authority is a Moz metric, it is not affected by CTR due to Moz not being able to determine or collect this sort of data. As far as CTR and PPC influencing search rankings goes, there are good reasons why Google would not rely on either metric too intently. For one, it would be very easy to mimic a very bad bounce rate on a competitor's site: set bots to click on search results to a competitor website, click straight out. It would be a big conflict of interest for PPC to influence SEO either positively or negatively, and although none of us are naive enough to believe that Google always does everything with the best of intentions, they would be in a world of trouble if this type of behaviour were proven. CTR and bounce rate are so easily influenced / manipulated by factors outside of quality, authority and relevancy that I assume their influence on rankings is quite low. Sure, this data is valuable to Google, but it won't be a signal that has a huge amount of relevance.

Any idea how Google is doing this? Is it schematic? http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/28/google-adds-full-restaurant-menus-to-its-search-results-pages/
I appreciate your taking the time to answer this. If it is helpful I found out that the Google carousel is most often populated from pictures on relevant Google + pages. Thanks again for your input!
