Schema.org Article, itemprop keyword, what is it?
Hi Steve, This appears to be schema used to help search engines understand the nature of content in objects containing "stuff" that search engines have trouble completely understanding. For example, I found keywords as possible markup element for a Video: http://schema.org/VideoObject I don't think this plays into rankings at all. Google is so over that kind of easy manipulation. However, I DO think that when these are marked up in conjunction with ALT attributes for images, or transcriptions for videos, they can help Google understand the semantic relevance of that content. For example (and I am totally making this up), imagine a video of a veterinarian administering vaccines to an animal. During the video the vet keeps referring to the animal as "the patient." So from the transcript, a search engine (or someone who's visually impaired) wouldn't know that this video is about medicine for animals instead of humans. Using the schema.org markup for keywords would allow terms like "animal vaccine best practices" to be included to help search engines understand better what the content is really about. That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps! Dana

I seem to have about 10 ### tags in the sidebar. Should they be removed?
Hi there, In Google's basic SEO Starter Guide, they do specifically recommend that you "use heading tags appropriately", and to use them to emphasize important text. They state that multiple heading sizes creates a hierarchical structure for your content, making it easier for users to navigate through your document. That said, it may not be a huge deal, but I might suggest taking care of the issue just to be on the safe side. Best, Zack

How unique should meta descriptions be?
Thanks, and I agree with you. The similar descriptions are because I'm not personally setting them each time, so I wanted to provide a template to other users so we at least have something custom for search results pages instead of the default text from the beginning of the post.

Tags creating duplicated content issue?
I have different meta content since a long time still showing as a duplicate and on just looking at the body content it is identical. Is there any quick way I can manually add something to the robots file to take the duplicates away? Canonical is not working for me as it just points to the same url - not the MAIN one you want. So there is nothing as good as yoast for joomla, they should make that and make a lot of money! OOTB joomla is poor at seo if you dont know how to make menus in joomla your site can have massive issues. Without a tool like MOZ you may never know why your quality content can't rank - gee thanks joomla

From an SEO perspective, which is preferable in the URL for a non-English site: local language or English?
Hi Dana Thank you for your answer. But I didnt understand what you meant by 'translated URL using Hindi'? Is it one of the 3 options I gave or yet another URL writing style? Thanks,

More Singular KW Targeted Landing Pages vs. Less Multiple KW Targeted Landing Pages
Nick, I've inherited a number of sites with this same problem, some of them quite large sites with rampant singe-keyword landing pages that required a lot of cleanup. In my opinion, in the long run it's definitely worth the effort to prune where you can and get same/similar content combined into one higher quality page. I've had pretty good success in combining pages into topical focused LPs. There's been a lot of talk in the SEO world over the last year about "topics, not keywords", and this discussion is exactly where that idea comes into play. With Google's increasing effort at better understanding keyword intent, they've gotten really good at determining synonymous phrases. As a result, sites with single-keyword LPs are suffering (or will eventually) due to content cannibalization. Let's say you have a LP for "blue widgets" and another for "widgets that are blue", eventually those 2 pages are going to compete with each other and Google will choose to rank neither very well. If you do go down the road to combining pages, here's a few tips: Look in Google Analytics for page metrics like organic entrances, conversions, whatever other KPIs are important for you site Check Moz metrics like Page Authority and links Grab bits of content from the pages going away - just because the overall page is lower quality than others doesn't mean it doesn't have some good content you can 301 redirect the old pages to the new one so search engines, people, and links will still lead to relevant content Update internal links and your XML sitemap to reflect the changes Hope that helps, happy optimizing!

Does Google's algo look at all traffic mediums with regs to onpage metrics or only organic traffic metrics?
No I'm not talking about faking anything. The question is, does Google asses on page metrics as part of their search algorithm using the onpage metrics from traffic via all mediums, or only traffic via organic as a medium. Not sure your answer makes much sense. No worries though. Cheers, Gill.

Is this blog running on the Genesis Framework?
Thanks all for the help. After digging a little deeper I discovered that Yoast's inability to run properly in our blog wasn't because of the theme, but because "Your hosting environment does not support PHP's Document Object Model. To enjoy all the benefits of the page analysis feature, you'll need to (get your host to) install it."
