Formatting issues WordPress 3.1.2
Hello again A voice from the past. I've finally managed to install the company WordPress Theme and have a play with the style sheet(s) - The ‘style.css’ and the ‘editor-style.css’ have the correct code. But the bold and italics, although displayed in the editor, disappear in the browser. It doesn’t matter what browser I use. Any ideas? Thanks Catherine

Alt tag matching product titles - e-commerce
Best answer. But at a granular product line level, Amazon use 'product details' for all their products. Might try replicating each product title with each alt tag on one category - see how it goes.

Got loads of pages, but none indexing?
Just to clarify and provide an answer a bit more accurate to your question. 1. Whichever you want indexed (the www version or the non www version) you should have 301 Redirect functionality set up pointing to the one you want from the one you don't want on a site-wide basis. 2. In GWT, you can designate that you want them to prefer the www version or the non www version. 3. If you don't already, be sure to have a sitemap.xml file set up on your site, and submit it through Google Webmaster Tools and Bing's Webmaster Tools. 4. Having inbound links helps for ranking however it's not required just for indexing, if you submit the sitemap.xml file. I've had plenty of sites indexed way before any inbound links existed. 5. With both Google and Bing's webmaster tools you can review their data to see if either find any problems in your site.

Campaign for pages that I want to optimize?
One of the most important things to do is to think about your business and the objectives of your SEO efforts. If you plan well that will determine the page content on your site, the navigation structure and even the design. All of these play in concert for a winning business strategy.

Duplicate product urls
And to add to Matt's reply, not all search engines recognize canonical tags, so if it is a dupe content issue, then 301s are vital.

Navigation Links in Footer
Footer links can definitely be used to enhance user experience and as Steven Ferrino said, "flatten out you site for Google" It is a place where you want to include a sitemap map as well as any other pages that you do not want to necessarily have on your main nav bar. As far as SEO purposes, this will not really benefit you. I can not say that it won't be of any help, but in my opinion those links are not really optimized and as always, it is better to have in body anchor text links versus bottom footer links. Best of Luck!

Does it matter if your URL ends in .net or .com?
One way it could hurt your SEO is if people who link to your site mistakenly link to .com instead of .net which could reduce your inbound links.

Absolute vs Relative URLs
I use a mix of both relative and absoloute, for navigation I tend to use relative links in case i ever move things around. However for content in particular articles or news pieces on a site i use exact links. I have found before that some of these have been used on other sites so including the exact link ensures that there is a link back to the website.

How to go after a domain name when the whois info is incorrect.
I looked at the source code and it redirected to another domain. The whois for that domain had the same invalid email. However, I searched that domain and found a "contact us" page. So, hopefully I've tracked him down!

Impact of removing category sidebar with keywords?
There's no one right answer here. So many factors to consider. 1. Real Word Testing For example, have you ever done heat maps or click tracking with a solution like CrazyEgg? I ask because it could turn out to be that the "recent free reports" box gets hardly enough clicks to warrant it's being kept as compared to the "Browse Topics" links. 2. Existing On Page Optimization From a different perspective, You've only got "fair" optimization on the individual topic landing pages. For example, when I go to the link for the Debt Collection topic, it sends me to the url http://www.insidearm.com/browse-topics/?topicid=2515 When I look at this page I see the following flaws in your page level SEO: You've got a weak page Title No URL optimization The overall keyword saturation across the entire page (including header area, main content area,k sidebar and footer areas causes significant dilution. 3.Section Level Sub-Navigation When I'm in this section, the sub-category links do show up within the sidebar Topic link area for this section, yet the whole Topic nav box is way below the fold, which already causes a user experience problem. Taking the further action of removing that box entirely would cause even more topical and user confusion. 4. Crawlability At the code level, the page I reviewed has 385 links. (65 of these are purely pointing to archives, and they're only at the code level, not seen by visitors, yet because they're there, search indexing crawlers do see them). With so many links on a page, it's quite possible that search engines are not crawling your site as efficiently as they could be, which itself could be further harming your sites overall SEO in a way that needs to be factored when deciding which links on a page should or shouldn't be removed. 5.Perceived Duplicate Content Factor All those links in the sidebar and footer - for the most part they're the same across the entire site correct? If so, that's causing not only a topical dilution issue, it's also contributing to weakness in perceived unique page level content. 6.Sectional Navigation SEO best practices DO call for a section level sub-navigation system up top or on the sidebar, though it should at least mostly be limited to links within that section. As you can see there are many factors to consider before just randomly ripping out one thing because you want the visual space for something else you or someone else in the organization perceives to be important. It's not something to take lightly because of that very impact you express concern over.

Can A Blog post impact negatively on Google rankings?
Thanks for the suggestion Garry - I will come back on after our new website has launched and get everyones feedback and SEO advice. In the meantime we are working on our keyword strategy prior to writing the new content. I'm liking this forum on SEOMOZ - I like the openness of it. I suppose what I want to get to is fact as opposed to opinion. There seems to be a lot of opinion out there. Sometimes conflicting. But it is definately better hearing "opinion" so we can form an "opinion" ourselves, or put theories to the test. Thanks everyone - its all appreciated.

Shall Google index a search result?
Hi Alan, well, I am not affected by Panda - it's a german website. But Panda is arriving soon Your answer makes sense, I'll give it a try and "noindex" the search result. Best wishes, Georg.
