Footers... Good or Bad?
Hi Justin. Footer links are read last as web crawlers read your page. Anchor text is associated with the first link that is found on a given page. This is important to know as links are often found in your navigation bar, side bars and content so the anchor text in the footer does not get applied. Footer links are also devalued from a SEO point of view. They do not have the same weight as other links on the page. Search engines understand footer links are the least visible and least used links on a page. You should review some analytics to determine if any of your footer links are actually used. It can be useful to offer a handful of footer links. Stuffing 30+ links in your footer is not helpful for SEO nor your users. Take a look at the SEOmoz footer links for a reasonable example. In summary, you are not penalized for having many footer links unless they get to the point where they appear spammy. But you are algorithmically disadvantaged by adding any unnecessary links as you are taking away PR from flowing to the more important links on your site.

Is it better to include the secondary keyword or site name in a title tag?
Thank you Alex for your response! I am going to include more keywords in my meta description than just my h1 tag. I am starting to figure things out. Thanks again!

Value in a bottom navigation bar?
If your customers would find it useful I can't see it being too much of a problem. I like a small selection of links in the footer. Often customers will look in the footer for contact links and information. If it's just for SEO and you are putting in some keyword links I would probably say avoid it.

Title tag for category page
Hi Walid, I would personally eliminate A and B purely based on the fact that they aren't targeted enough. I would put the "Free dliver on $50 purchase" in the meta description to encourage the click through, but C seems the most concise and targeted out of all of them. Plus I'm a big fan of the " | " symbol

Negatives to using custom sub domain?
Thanks everyone. So - it is all agreed that using my own domain (in some form) is definitely the best option. That's good. **In regards to Sub Domain V Folder. ** Before tackling that issue fully - Just to be clear, the Gallery is a hosted solution, so, I can not just pick it up and move it to wherever I like. I can however, create a CNAME record and redirect it that way. BUT Im no expert in this area - I know I can use a CNAME record to redirect to a sub domain, but can you redirect to a folder?

Nofollow tags
What about 12 outbound links to external client sites not related to your service.

If I have too many on-page links can I reduce it with nofollow tags or do the links have to be removed?
I think you need to get more clear concept about nofollow. Most of the time people think about passing link juice. ask youself; are all those links important for your visitors and all those pages linked from left bar important too, if so then why nofollow. You are giving your visitor the right thing. Having said that you need to rethink about links too sometimes we think having many links on one page will benefit visitors, in reality its wrong. you need to design your site navigation in such a way where ppl can easy go from one page to another page. Usability is key too. Group your links, pages and content and design everything from customer prespective. Google love sites, which are develop for customers. Anyways nofollow is not and never been a solution, inshort most of the people have wrong concepts about nofollow. Hope this will make some sense to you. Regards

Title Tag Length
I understand that from a conversion perspective having a title tag in excess of 70 characters is meaningless as no one will see it on Google. I also understand that some believe that a title tag with more characters may dilute the strength of the terms you really want emphasized (although there doesn't appear to be universal agreement on this point). That said, for ranking purposes, will Google consider more than 70 characters in the title tag? I have a specific reason for asking this question. My clients are professional service providers. Some of them are located in suburbia where no one particular suburb draws a lot of traffic. Given my content constraints and limited number of title tags, I would like to squeeze as many suburb names into the title tag even if it means that they are not visible, just for ranking purposes.

Has anyone ever attempted (successfully or not) to consciously reduce their amount of homepage links in order to improve their search engine rankings?
Hey Wayne, thank you for the timely and detailed answer to my question! We have pondered the actual effects of reducing homepage links and this clears a lot up! Also, thanks for the link, it has a ton of relevant information. I will bring this up at my next team meeting!

Content ideas for different sections of a news website?
I didn't think about going that far back, but definitely - a surprising random fact or two in there could be worthwhile - thanks!

Are Content in Inline Javascript and Collapsible Considered Cloaking to Google?
So does content in Javascript and collapsible considered hiding from Google? No, that is fine. Cloaking is specifically showing different content to Google then you would to other users. Honest presentations of "read more" or not openly displaying content until a trigger button is pressed would be fine. Deceptively hiding content behind a button that would normally not be discovered or pressed would be an issue.

URL http://www.1step2heaven.co.uk.
It's all a canonical issue. How about setting one as the primary web page in Google Webmaster Tools? And then removing the parameters (which would fix the index.php version). Making this: http://www.1step2heaven.co.uk/product.php?CAT=All%20Brands&SUBCAT=Wolbar Become: http:www.1step2heaven.co.uk/Wolbar or http:www.1step2heaven.co.uk/Brands/Wolbar

Can my amount of internal linking seem spammy ?
It is recommended that you have no more than 100 links per page. Have you run the SEO Crawler across your site. This will give you a report including advice on number of links. In cases where there appear to be too many then it will flag that up. More importantly it will report other more important errors or omissions. I dont thin youre doing much wrong, though get the SEOmoz report and you will know better...
