Does page "depth" matter
I had a quick scan thought the article and it looks likethey are talking from a usability aspect. I am talking from a link juice aspect. Page rank passes only 85% thought a link, so if the home page passes PR of 1 thought each of its likes, the a page one click away only gets 0.85, 2 clicks 0.72, 3 clicks 0.61, 4 clicks 0.52. It gets a bit more complicated when the pages link back to the home page, theough dopnt pass back as much either. i have a simple explaination here. http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank And her is a caculator that you can ry to see how it workes out. http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php

Is it a good idea to rel=canonical dozens of old outdated pages?
If there are newer pages in place, and the newer pages cover the same topic, then yes you should canonical the older, outdated pages to the new pages. I would normally suggest to replace these older pages but you shared they "still need to be up" so the canonical tag would be the next best solution. Using the canonical tag will allow most of the link juice from the older pages to flow to the newer pages.

Footer copyright year statement. good or bad
I agree with Bryce that it probably doesn't affect Google's perception of the page at all. However, from a user standpoint an "outdated" copyright could work against you. I see it as a sort of trust signal. I was on a page earlier that said "Copyright 2001" and I just couldn't get over it. If they can't bother to update the date on their site, why would they bother with having me as a customer? Just something to think about. Great question.

Slow page load times from asynchronous javascript
I would check the loading times in Google Webmaster. Then I would go to some websites that measure loading times and compare your webiste's speed with the speeds of your competitors. If your is significantly slower, I would worry. Try to combine several js into one. Try to substitute social media buttons with some other ones.

Using a more relevant brand title for blog
I think the real question is, what do you want to be relevant for? If you want the relevance for your brand name, then use that as the first two words. Most people don't, because their brand name is unique enough, and there generally isn't competition for it (though there's some interesting results for you in regards to 'two brothers moving' versus '2 brothers moving'). In your case, assuming 'two brothers' isn't someone you're interested in competing with, I'd use keyword | brandname as webfeatseo suggests. I would suggest that for both the blog and the main site, because it looks like you have the '2 brothers moving' and '2 brothers portland' searches essentially sewn up already.

A / B Split testing
It might be a good idea to exlude bots from your experiment, and your results. Check the user agent string for "(bot|spider)" and then serve them the original. This way they still see the original, until you think that the variation has won.

How do you fix on page SEO ?
Mmmm.... first of all nice way to put anchor text optimized links while saying you are not able to make ranking your site in the first page of the SERPs for the same keywords... I remind you that links here are nofollowed. Said that, apart from the on site factor Webfeatseo has wrote about, I would also suggest you to radically change the way you are using the blog: Why a post like this > Blogging: it's all about influencing the influencers, is in the blog of site like yours? It doesn't fit at all thematically; More over, that post is a not original one. You correctly reference the source, but to add a post bazillions others have is not useful, as your "version" will probably be flitered by the SERPs. No... use the blog to really tell the daily stories, surely amazing, of the school and the children assisted by it. Use video, use photos, use their own drawnings... make the blog unique and use it as the central core of your inbound marketing activity, for instance sharing those stories via social media with your followers and those people may be interested in humanitarian cases. This could probably make your site stand respect all the other similar sites. This, with the on site optimization which is needed (i.e.: review the title tag of the home page > School meal program in India for underprivileged children - Akshaya Patra India) and focussing on the real influencers targets, will surely help you scaling the rankings. )

The Value of Internal Links?
We do a lot of WP sites for clients and I do not like the auto generated internal links plug ins. The problem is they have a tendency to link back in a loop to the page they are linking from and some over do the internal linking. The best bet in my opinion is to know that internal links are good as they can help spread link juice to deeper pages (use them judiciously) and they do help the bots crawl. So, IMHO, internal links are good but you need to do them by hand in my estimation so that you control them. Hope this helps

Optimizing for another keyword than the menu name
My question was probably not specific enough - sorry. Example: Today our top menu could be: "Automobiles" (which is the keyword, that we want to target) But "Cars" is shorter and easier to use, and looks better. There we would like to change it. Below this we have several pages with: Automobiles in How much value does it have to have the exact keyword in the main menu of the site? the menu is on all pages on our site. We have several other internal links with anchortext "Automobiles" linking to the page.

20 x '400' errors in site but URLs work fine in browser...
Most major robots obey crawl delays. You could check your errors in Google Webmaster Tools to see if your site is serving a lot of error pages when Google crawls. I suspect Google is pretty smart about slowing down its crawl rate when it encounters too many errors, so it's probably safe to not include a crawl delay for Google.

Does concatenating two words make them lose their SEO value
There was a school of thought a number of years ago that thought that Google would ignore the fact that there were no spaces between two words - and for some phrases that are not as highly contested, you might find this is still the case - but I can't think of any occurrences of anything that I am working with now where concatenated words will yield the same or better results - separate the words wherever possible. How to avoid product's lists from making your site's content duplicated?
If it were me I would be looking to make the pages more unique. Even just a small bit of unique text, tying in with differences can be enough to prevent issues. We've seen this on commerce sites that have multi-faceted navigation that effective create long lists of similar pages. I'd be looking to add a few lines, even just 3 or four sentences to each page. Get that high up in the code and have it relate to the page. I know that lots of people talk about having 500 words of unique content, but I don't think that level is neccessary (nice if you can though!). You can get freelancers through odesk or similar to do this sort of work very affordable. However, if you want to stop a piece of content, like a list being indexed your main options are probably: Show the list as a image Use javascript (although no guarantees this will do the job) I do think that this is really trying to hide symptoms, rather than dealing with the cause though. With regards to googleoff/on I don't think these are what you think they are. Someone may correct me, but I think that they apply to search appliance, not the public google search index (off to check now!) Edit : Yes... I am not going mad. That tag relates to search appliance, which is something totally different to the search that you use at google.com etc.

In House Editorial Reviews
Sorry I guess I misunderstood you! This sounds like a good technique and the IP address variety will not be a problem. Doing just one of these will be helpful for you as long as it is original content and you use the keyword properly. There is really no definite number of these that it will take to see a significant result but having any new original content will help your google rankings. Google likes to see original fresh content so as long as it's original, these will be helpful!

Breadcrumb position SEO impact
The purpose of the crumb trail to let users know where they are and provide an easy method to Navigate back along the path they have taken. In which case, as a user there is a particular place I expect to see the crumb trail, usually at the top of a content block directly under the page header. If its not user friendly I wouldn't expect it to be beneficial to SEO either. Loving the design though

Site Redesign: Potential Problems?
Interesting article. Certainly helps to explain short term dips after a change. I'd venture that Google removes some trust ofter a change and then has their quality reviewers look at it to make sure it's still trustworthy. I think we're going to push the template changes back to the off-season since we can't afford even a small hit for the busy one.
