Domain sub-directory not performing
A sub directory is never going to rank like the home page. you can look at linking to try and improve the rank http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank I would try and push PR from all shop pages to the shop main page, not the root. Myself I would create a sub domain shop.bouldersuk.com, you will stil be seen as the same site, but will be easier to have the main shop page seen as a home page

Can a country level domain perform well in international SEO if all the targeted keywords are related to that country domain?
_Should my Google Plus page be a local business page or company page from SEO perspective? _ Local Business or Place This is usually the one to go for as it gives the option of giving your phone number which will be tied to your Google Places account. Its for A business in a location with a name Joe's Pizza in Aberdeen or Jean's Pet Shop in Paris Product or Brand This is used if the product is less geocentric and clearly defined like clothes, cars, electronics and financial services Company, Institution or Organization Use this category if you are less focused on selling and more of a service provider (Oxfam, Red Cross) Arts, Entertainment or Sports If you set up a fan page .. here is where to do it. TV, films, music, books, sports and theatre Other Suffice to say .. you will be asked if the material is suited to under 18 year olds or if there is any alcohol related material (from:http://www.calcouk.com/set_up_google_business_page.html) This is of first importance, SEO will work the same way for most of these, for more specific SEO advice to G+ Pages see here: http://maximizesocialbusiness.com/google-plus-seo-8351/

Our urls for adwords are slightly different from current urls presented on site (weused htaccess to help create shorter urls). How important is it that the adwords url match the sitemap url for keywords on those pages?
I don't think it is important at all, people have been doing this for years so they can track adwords and other campaigns.

Sharepoint: HTMLNOINDEX
Thanks for the response Lesley! You're right about Microsoft having their own way of doing things. We're doing a lot of branding and design work for Sharepoint, and it's been an... let's just go with interesting... few years since we started offering it as a service. Great thinking on checking the site in Bing - Seems like common sense fails again: Bing is ignoring the tag too. Looking at our more recent projects in Sharepoint 2010 and 2013, the tag doesn't seem to exist at all, and there is no documentation on it. I can only assume that even Microsoft has dropped it at this point. Thanks again for the help. Bede

Why my index so weird.
Indeed self referencing is ok and recommended as I mentioned further down ;)... my mistake. That being said I have never done it and never noticed google having an issue on which result to show, but maybe I better go and have another look!

URL / Meta info for Author bio pages
Just a quick follow up, I isolated the problem. WordPress was stripping the rel=author that I had included in the link. I have since upgraded to WP 3.6.1 and I don't know if it was that or something else, but WP is no longer stripping the rel=author.

Should you use Plural version of a keyword or singular
If you use plural versions too but in a sentence that makes sense are they considered keyword repeats (in title tag) ?

Advice about resource points
I would use a subfolder instead of a subdomain Instead of having the viewers watch all the videos on one "videos" page, try to split them up into topics and have a article with related videos for each. Create a video sitemap and rank all those pages. Just be careful not to copy/paste the a pre-existing piece of content, otherwise you'll get slapped with duplicate content penalty.

Empty public profiles are viewed as duplicate content. What to do?
This is totally down to a matter of personal preference. I'd be looking for something in the way of original text. A good way is to ask more question then total up the number of words in their answers. You can also flesh that out by introducing snippets from recent activity, connections etc. Do though try to include something in the way of original content in order to turn off the no-index. I think your example isn't bad. Add a personal slogan, or line of introduction and it is probably enough.

Redirecting deleted posts 301 vs 302
It's probably easier to only use 301 redirects, especially if the majority of deleted posts are not going to be restored and are deleted permanently in a few months.

Author avatar in homepage search result
DK, You can follow Christy's advice with the Yoast plugin. If you are wanting to have the Author image show for the Home page then select that option in the Yoast plugin OR you can simply add a link to the Home page as explained in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgFb6Y-UJUI. As Authorship has become more recognized and can increase click through rates, people have been rushing to implement for ALL pages, including the Home page. So, to your question, it's recommended to attach to your Home page if you are the only author to the website. If you are not, then leave the Home page out of it and connect Authorship to your individuals articles or pages. Hope this was the answer you were looking for. - Patrick

www vs no-www duplicate which should I use
touristips You can use either without any negative effects whatsoever. The .htaccess above is correct for non www. Also, in GWMT go in and select a preferred domain as a backup. So, since you are using non www, go to GWMT and top right corner you will see the tools wheel. Click it and go to site settings. Then select the non www. This will insure all is correct. Best

Ecommerce- Keyword use in Product links on Category page
Just thought I'd update in case anyone else is finding product pages are outranking category pages like I was. (also of note this site is built on Magento) I changed all product names / URL's / Image meta so that it no longer included the keyword on 4th September. Used to be: Brand Model# Keyword (Product type) Now just: Brand Model# Google did a little dance and now my Category pages rank (for both keyword and keyword plural) rather than product pages. Rankings increased to position #3 for keyword and to #1 for keyword plural (from position 11) about a week ago and are now steady at those positions. It seems categories with only a few products were not affected (seen as over optimized) but those categories with 30+ products were.

Best way to nofollow affiliate links?
If it's Amazon you are concerned with you could probably just leave them as-is. However, you could also run a scan of your site using a tool like Screaming Frog or OSE and look for outbound links going to Amazon.com and other known affiliate sites. This will at least make tracking them down to manually update them easier. You could probably have this done at the database level too, though that is something for which you'll probably want to hire a DBA. The following article has the best idea I could find for your situation, though it still isn't perfect because you could be applying a nofollow meta tag (as opposed to a nofollow link attribute) to pages that have both affiliate links AND editorial links that you want followed. At any rate, I hope this helps: http://www.bradlinder.net/2011/05/how-to-add-nofollow-attribute-to-all.html

Integrate a blog within an existing site
The website, an e-commerce site, uses a custom built CMS with no blog modules so I have to create it and I thought would be easier to implement a wordpress blog. @Chris thanks for sharing those posts, I will look into it. Also I will have to talk to the developer of the site and see also if wordpress could actually fit the CMS.

Should links on a family bar be no follows?
Theoretically if the links make sense you should go for it but if it seems unnatural you should remove the links that are pointing to your network sites but practically i have seen that this actually hurt the SERP rankings especially when the link profile looks something like you said! In my opinion, ideally if possible remove the links and get some quality links to those websites but if you think that removing a link is not the option then you left with no-following the links only and you should go for it! Hope this helps!

How to mass noindex Wordpress posts?
I have been using Yoast SEO from the start and it hasn't helped. I already noindex subpages and tags etc. I am talking about individual posts that I am concerned are considered thin content from when I first started the blog. I cleaned up duplicate content found in Google Webmasters as well as crawl errors. My rankings keep getting worse despite a lot of quality back-links and more readers. I keep improving my site and my growth is going well but Google keeps pushing me down and I don't understand why.
