I'm not sure I entirely understand what you're trying to achieve. Could you post a few examples of what you would like to redirect (and to what) and what you wouldn't want to redirect? Also, which web server are you using (nginx, Apache, IIS...)

I find that very interesting. Obviously, the post was a bit of a plug for Marketmuse, but I always felt that the underlying advice was solid.

Are you saying that you simply went from having a very focussed single topic page to a more in-depth article and found that you lost rank? Was there anything else you did at a similar time? I assume you have now reverted your content? (And has that had any effect?)

I think one thing missing from your list is the impact of voice search. I think voice search will continue to grow everywhere, including in the local search area.

As I understand it, the way Moz crawls means it won't pick up HTML that is added dynamically. Without knowing which site you are talking about, I can't check, but I worked with a client who had a site that dynamically generated areas of the page after the first draw and that caused some issues with the Moz crawler correctly identifying issues on the site.

I would suggest checking with Search Console "Fetch as Google" tool just to make sure Google is "seeing" the page correctly, and, if so, ignore the alerts in Moz.

I'm not sure, I suspect they get a large number of reports and I don't know whether the process is automated.  I've used it a few times but never heard anything back, so I'm not sure if you'll get any feedback either way.

It depends what you want to report. One of the most common violations (in my opinion) is link buying, and you can report that by following the links here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93713?hl=en

Many other types of violation are automatically picked up (and I suspect generally link buying is picked up eventually). What specifically do you need/want to report?

I agree with Vijay.  If you know they are low-quality links you should act to have them removed.

We have a client with the exact same issue.  They had paid an SEO in the past to do some work and it would appear that the majority of that work was building incredibly poor quality links, including, but not limited to, creating entire sites with links solely back to the client's site.

We've spent the last few weeks clearing up the bad links, and there is still more to be done. We did pre-warn the client that this work was going to be carried out and explained that there was a potential of a drop in rankings due to it.  Fortunately in this case, due to the other work being carried out, we didn't see an overall drop.

I would hate to be having a conversation with a client in a few months once they've been hit with a penalty saying "Yes, we knew there was a problem, but we ignored it because it wasn't causing a direct issue at the time"
