Need suggestion: What is the best internal linking structure for our website to gain in SEO & UX too?
Hi, Mostly look at Amazon, they've been doing some of this stuff for a while. Just not sure if they're changing the link structure based on colors or certain features. But it happens on a regular basis that they're changing things on the page according to the size or the color of the product that you're picking. Martijn.

Using Brand value for SEO: Can we use keyword with brand name?
I agree with Robert. So of course with the Clarks examples pages may be: Clarks Boots Clarks Sandals Clarks Slippers And each of those pages would be different. Filled with contextually rich content surrounding those terms. "It won't put you on the 1st page" - I don't agree with this. I have many clients who have been hoiked up to page one by adding contextually relevant content to a key phrase (Brand + Category) constructed the page. If you _are _the brand and you construct pages like this (With 300+ words contextual content) you will be No. 1 or 2 in Google, never mind just on the front page. Just search 'Carousel Projects SEO' Regards Nigel

Does the more number of ranking pages improve the website ranking?
Hi there, Yes, the overall website situation impacts particular pages. Shortly: It's not only about how the particular page is optimised, it's also considered what it's surrounded by - i.e. other pages / rest of the website. So when you analyse your page, you should also analyse your website to see bounce rates, or time on site for example. If you want to improve pages, you should look at its complexity. I don't believe you can succeed long-term if you have 5% of over-optimised pages and 95% don't even rank. Google is becoming more and more clever. Try to optimise those 95% of pages (or at least some of them), get them some backlinks and you'll see DA growing and it should have positive impact on PA of your focus pages. I hope this helps. Good luck! Katarina

Keyword optimisation: Google's eyes before users' eyes?
Hi there The only way to "get the top spots" in Google is to make sure your site abides by SEO best practices, that great content is being written, and that you are building great backlinks. If you are conducting proper keyword research for your content, then you should be able to find a healthy balance between the language your target audience uses and what keywords get a healthy amount of search volume in search engines. Use these words / phrases naturally in your content and you'll be just fine. Remember - Google is fantastic and making connections between topics and variations. If you are able to write your content that methodically uses these keywords, and your pages are optimized, then look into your link building strategy to begin distributing your content more effectively. Also - don't forget to be conduct ongoing audits of your website as this will help / hinder ongoing search engine performance. Hope this all helps! Good luck! Patrick

Google inaccurate results: Common or error?
Google is incredibly good at entity detection (i.e. figuring out when someone is searching for a "thing"). When there is a canonical right answer for that thing (e.g. the company website in the case of a company), it will often rank very well despite not necessarily having any of the "traditional" ranking factors in place. Typically, when the search is unambiguously for the thing in question, the company will rank #1 even if there are much stronger websites and pages about that company. You will rarely find that a company is outranked on their own company name when it's sufficiently distinguished from other entities even if it's a really small company and there are (for example) major media stories about it. There are a variety of other factors - like query sequences (e.g. a user searching [seo] followed by [seo trucks] in your example) that Google can use to associate more specific sites with more general queries as well. Most importantly - I'm not sure there's a great deal you can do about it, not any general lessons you can apply to your own attempts in this market / keyword space - so I wouldn't spend too long worrying about it!

Do header tags impact the rankings much?
Hi there, Your title is important, a single H1 is important and then you should use a good hierarchy of H2, H3, H4's etc. So to answer your question, yes! Make sure you review all your pages and their H1s (one per page) and the rest of the H's! Hope this helps. Good luck! Katarina

Is it Okay to have "No Response" pages?
Yes, definitely fix this issue, as sooner or later Google will see that your website speed is experiencing errors. I would check with your website host for speed, optimization and reliability.

What factors make a ranking difference between Desktop and Mobile?
+1 to both of the above comments! It's hard to say why a website ranks higher in mobile than in desktop without actually seeing it. However, a few factors could be at play here: 1. Site Speed 2. Not having pop-ups or flash enabled on your mobile site 3. Structured Data is present More data is certainly needed in order to answer your question in a more specific way. Good question!

What exactly "monthly searches" from Google Adwords teach us?
I believe you already understand the answer. Through my experience with google Adwords, and learning much of my Adwords campaign skills for marketing veterans such Tommy Griffith. My understanding is that Monthly Searches are to be treated more as trends rather than accurate numbers. However, those trends seem to be precise and a meaningful to gauge size and market share. I am going to suggest you dig into what kind of brand awareness campaigns your competitors have been executing on and what kind of marketing they're doing in general. My observation is that given the total market share size combined with your marketing efforts and churn rate 5000 search is a rough estimate of what your brand is capable of acquiring in regards to Search Share at a given period of time. Perhaps you should modify or get started on a brand awareness strategy.

Is there anything wrong to have large number of internal links pointing to homepage? Including links from sub domains or sub directories?

Any tool to check complete internal linking structure? Especially number of internal links pointing to pages
With OpenSiteExplorer, you can check all the internal links to a specific URL. Just put in the URL and under Link Source choose the option "Only internal". Good luck! wVI037C

Competitor's new site ranking with out much keywords - How?
Hi there, Keywords are just one of the factors - probably the most obvious one. However, without you noticing, they might have rebuilt the website's foundations which means the website is improved technically - stronger and faster. Obviously, we would need to analyse before & after, but it can be anything from responsive design, accelerated mobile pages, internal links and overall site structure (even thought it might seem the same). It can also be any of the following: gained a number of good backlinks (e.g. launched an intensive backlink strategy), increased their traffic, reduced their bounce rate, improved the quality of their reduced content, focused on meta descriptions, increased their social following/engagement/shares etc. Perhaps you have noticed they changed their URL structure? This could deliver good results too. So without any further info, it is very difficult to tell as it can be a few of the factors I mentioned above. Thanks. Kat

Help guide pages from subdirectory must be opened in a new tab?
This is more of a UX questions, but generally if you are delivering a help content, opening it up in a tab is fine. Many times there will be other on pages interactions that a visitor may want to make as well, so you do not want to remove them completely from the page.

Can we link back from help documents to product or features pages on website?
Hi! I guess that really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If it is relevant for usert to have a link back, or if the text on the help-page dictates that a link to the product page gives value and meaning, then I would absolutely add a link back. From an SEO perspective It could also be valuable if it helps mapping out the site hierarchy and distribute "link juice". However - I would ask myself if this gives value for my user, not only worring about technical SEO. But if if gives value for your visitors, then you should absolutely go ahead and link between the pages. Some more info can be found at https://moz.com/learn/seo/internal-link and https://blog.kissmetrics.com/commandments-of-internal-linking/ (and https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35769?hl=en) Hope this helps Best regards, Anders

Are there any hard rules about internal linking of homepage?
"interlink homepage to the highest": I mean do we need to link homepage from highest number of pages? This is something we can see from "Internal links" in Google search console. I just wonder if you link to other pages more than to homepage.

Dead end pages are really an issue?
Thanks for the response. Actually we serve our pages differently to Google bots and Users. Users can see related pages but we can't see while browsing as bot. So, ultimately there are no other links on most of the pages for Google. With your brief, its clear that we definitely can have different links. But as I said, these pages are user guides about every feature we provide. So can we link back this page to same page of feature it's been linked from? And we think about what other links we can employ on these pages.

Do the referring domains matter a lot in back-links? Google's stand?
Hello vtmoz, I think your questions is very difficult to answer correctly. Domains are not weighted the same. Even high quality domains are not weighted the same. Where are the links coming from DA 100 or DA 25 links. DA is more difficult to increase the higher a domain is, if you have a DA 20 site and want to increase it to a DA 30 site it would have to have a good mix of high DA links. Every ten DA after that the quality needs to be the same or higher and exponentially more links from those higher DA sites. DA 100 sites like Facebook have millions of links. If you want to see the link profiles of your competitors, use the open site explorer and research the higher DA sites and see who links to them. Then try to emulate the links that are relevant to your niche. Thanks, Don

Do back-links to non indexed sub-domains / sub-directories considered by Google as website backlinks and pass Pagerank to website?
Hey there, Those links are absolutely considered as back links by Google and are able to accumulate PR / link juice, as long as they are FOLLOW. It doesn't make a difference if they're indexed or not. Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin
