Thanks - I just looked up our site (www.trophycentral.com) on Google and see many of the missing likes. My guess is that it is mostly a timing issue. SEOMOZE is helpful because I can see the ratings and overall estimate, so I guess over time I will look at a few sites.

Two different page authority ranks for the same page
I happened to notice that trophycentral.com and www.trophycentral.com have two different page ranks even though there is a 301 redirect. Should I be concerned?
Page Authority: 47
Domain Authority: 42
Page Authority: 51
Domain Authority: 42
Thanks!

Why aren't certain links showing in SEOMOZ?
Hi, I have been trying to understand our page rank and domains that are linking to us. When I look at the list of linking domains, I see some bigger ones are missing and I don't know why. For example, we are in the Yahoo Directory with a link to trophycentral.com, but SEOMOZ is not showing the link. If SEOMOZ is not seeing it, my guess is Google is not either, which concerns me. There are several onther high page rank domains also not showing. Anyone have any idea why? Thanks!
BTW, our domain is trophycentral.com

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Got it - thanks. I will be making the changes over the next few days. Unfortunately, I published the site last night and it will take about 18 hours so I can't access it for a while.

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Thanks, Alan. I had put a no-index, no-follow on the main category (inserts1.html) so that google could not get to the individual products to index them. That was the quickest thing I could do given how many products I need to update. Based on your note though, I will go through the individual products with a no-index, but it will take some time. Thanks again!

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
I can see them now - THANK YOU!!!

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Sorry to bother you again - last question - I promise! Where did you see the mobile.trophycentral.com pages indexed? I when on to google and didn't see them in the main index. Thanks!

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Alan, thank you! I just sent a note to the programmer who created the mobile site. For now, I am going to have them get it out of the index and I have stopped the redirection so that there is no mobile site. This may not be the best thing for the long-run, but for now I can at least be sure I fix the mobile issue. I have also fixed the strictlygifts linking. Working on removing more duplicate content now.
Thanks again!

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Alan, thank you so much for this. I am the founder of the business and not a webmaster, so parden these questions:
1. I originally thought it was the mobile site that caused this given the timing, but was told that somehow google was on the lookout for mobile.xxx and that it was not an issue.** I am sure you are right! How can I get rid of the indexed pages? ** I turned the mobile redirect off a couple of weeks ago so it is not even active.
2. My search provider told me they made changes to get rid of most of the pages, but since I are still seeing them, I am concerned. Is thiere something I can do to get rid of the pages?
3. I can easily change strictlygifts - this is the only thing that was intentional (but done about 8 years ago!).
4. How can I tell which are bad links - low page rank?
I have made thousands of changes based on the advice of others - improved the site speed, removed crawl errors, got rid of hundreds of pages, added duplicate content, etc. We were not given any sort of manual penalty - can I still submit a request after the above is done?
Thank you again. I have built this business over the last 10 years and to see it destroyed overnight is heartbreaking. I can't tell you how much your help is appreciated.

RE: How do I eliminate indexed products?
Alan, thanks. Not to sound stupid, but
1. What about the product looks like it is spam to you?
2. If I have a no index, no follow in inserts1, will that prevent goolge from all of the sub pages?
3. If the pages are already indexed, how can I get rid of them?
Sorry for the ignorant questions, but I own the business and I am not a webmaster.
Thnaks!

How do I eliminate indexed products?
Please help! We got clobbered by Penguin and are at risk of having to close down after 10 years. We have been trying to figure out why and believe now it might be because of duplicate content. We added 2" inserts in March (over 500):
http://www.trophycentral.com/inserts1.html
Even though each is a different products, SEOMOZ is saying they are considered duplicate content. Given the timing, we think this might be the cause, even though it is totally legitimate.
Question - since these are now indexed and since we can't easily add content quickly, what is the best way to handle this situation? A no-index tag?
Is there a way to let Google know that their algorithm is detroying legitimate businesses??

RE: What is the best practice to handle duplicate content?
Thanks. I was afraid this might be the best way to do it
Unfortunately, I have quite a few categories like this - trophies, medals, etc. that are the same, except for size and / or color. -
What is the best practice to handle duplicate content?
I have several large sections that SEOMOZ is indicating has duplicate content, even though the content is not identical. For example:
Leather Passport Section
- Leather Passports - Black
- Leather Passposts - Blue
- Leather Passports - Tan
- Etc.
Each of the items has good content, but it is identical, since they are the same products. What is the best practice here:
1. Have only one product with a drop down (fear is that this is not best for the customer)
2. Make up content to have them sound different?
3. Put a do-no-follow on the passport section?
4. Use a rel canonical even though the sections are technically not identical?
Thanks!

RE: Proper structure for site with multiple catagories of same products
Thanks, Alan, I understand now...

RE: Proper structure for site with multiple catagories of same products
Thanks, Alan. This makes sense. One question on #3 - the 301 redirect:
Assume I have a page, say medals1 and aonther page medals2 - both with similar and essentially pointing to many of the same products.
If I do a 301 redirect from medals2 to medals1, is that only an instruction to the search engines, or will someone on my site on the medals2 page see something different?
Thank!

RE: Is there a way to let Google know our brand
Joshua, thanks for taking so much time to respond. To answer your questions:
1. yes, I am using google webmaster tools. I also confirmed there were no manual actions agianst us.
2. noticed the drop in March. Most of our site is fine, but the drop was about 25-30% of our traffic that we were getting from a couple of keywords that disappeared completely. That's why I am pretty sure it is Penquin related - both the timing and the fact that the words didn't move down, but rather disappeared. However, I have had several people look and they can't find anything that looked "fishy".
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will take another look at the title tags - I thought I had most between 35 and 70 characters now. I know we have an issue with the thin descriptions - we have many products that are very similar (ex. 500 award certificates that are all the same except for the title and image and it is hard to write flowery content that is different for all 500! Same for our trophies!). I will also look at adding the branding to the titles.
Penguin is really killing us and I am just hoping something works! Thanks again!
