Make sure when you are placing links first make up good anchor texts with your keywords in it. Or not, a tonne of incoming links with exact match keywords might raise a few flags. Natural links tend to have brand names, web addresses, etc... in them, and generic things like "click here". I'm not saying it's not a relevance signal but it's certainly a lot less of one than it was. By all means get a few exact matches, partial and phrase matches but I'd mostly go for the relevance through the site/page content and the fact that it's relevant, trusted sites/pages that are linking in... and not so much concern with the anchor text.

Hi Michael, I haven't used the plugin myself, but have seen a number of references to it around the traps. I do remember seeing some information that mentioned it is used by well known internet attorney Mike Young on his website mikeyounglaw dot com. This is a nifty trick to get a quick boost of traffic but it requires a bit of research and some trial and error. The approach is spelled out in this article: How Google Trends Can Boost Your Blog Traffic. It boils down to monitoring Google Hot Trends and writing your blog post based on trending topics. This will work especially well with blogs based on news or current events. But your results won't be guaranteed because trending topics fade as quickly as they appear. It's sort of like surfing: the best surfers figure out where the wave is GOING TO BE. If you can figure out where the trend is GOING TO BE and write your blog posts accordingly, you stand a good chance of showing up in the Blogs section of a given Google Trend. Here's another tip: Google Hot Trends has an RSS feed that you can subscribe to via Google Reader or even have emailed to you via tools like Feed My Inbox. That way you can stay on top of the latest trends and have an even better chance at getting that extra boost of traffic. Please try this out and share your results!

This is a solutions, but its an ugly one, does anyone really wants a home url of http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=16&c=5&d=1&page=2. you then have the problem of people linking to that page. I believe michael said in a previous post that they were prodused by his CMS, the best idea would be to get rid of them rather then deal wioth them if posible.

I think than you had better consider legal steps. If they have acces to your content from a third domain or ip they can also do that from a furth or fifth one. So no metter how many ips you will block, if they do know you feed address they can subscribe with a completely new one. In my opinion if this is the case than legal solution should be the best for you.Copyright your articles.

If they have links pointing to them I agree with you, but if they dont, you should let them 404 or remove them though WMT,

Can't you give the urls of your live site? It should be as simple as: RedirectMatch 301 /lifestyle/feed http://www.newsite.com/location-of-new-feed Wasn't your feed (also) available on the url that is displayed in Google webmaster tools?

Hi Stefano, First of all, I would like to thank you for the help.  I really appreciate it. I have tried to implement the (http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/03/29/4g-ultimate-user-agent-blacklist/) and it seems that it minimized the scrapers visiting my site.  I paired it with blocking specific domains and IPs. Once this are applied,  an error occurs every time I add a picture into my posts.   What do I need to remove in the list of blocked bots to allow the adding of pictures? by the way, I am using wordpress as my CMS. Thanks in advance...
