Can I have multiple 301's when switching to https version
You should avoid redirection chains; ask your programmer to redirect http://www.colocationamerica.com/dedicated_servers/linux-dedicated.htm directly to https://www.colocationamerica.com/linux-dedicated-server. There is no need to have the step in between (it's just wasting crawl time of the bots)

Switching from Http to Https, but what about images and image link juice?
Shawn124, whenever you move from HTTP to HTTPs, you'll need to set up the 301 permanent redirects for pages on the site only. The other elements, such as images, JavaScript (if they're external files), and .CSS files will need to be changed only in the code so that they reference the new HTTPs URLs, and not HTTP. If you load an HTTP element (such as an image that uses the full URL in it's reference rather than the image filename only) on an HTTPs URL, then the browser will give you an error. So generally you need to do two things: set up 301 Permanent Redirect for the page URLs. search the entire website for all references to HTTP and change them to HTTPs (unless you're linking out to an external site). If the site is in WordPress, you can use the Search and Replace plugin to replace it all at once in the database.

Need references to a company that can transition our 1000 page website from Http to Https without breaking our SEO backlinks and site structure
Hi Shawn, Thanks for posting in Q&A! Just a heads-up, though—we actually don't allow job postings in this forum, as it's intended to be an educational resource. No worries, though. I'm going to lock this thread to further responses. We have a list of companies we recommend, and I also suggest giving the job board at Inbound.org a try. Thanks for understanding!

Google AMP (accelerated mobile pages), can it be used for non-Google news and Ecommerce Websites?
According to the official website, AMP is for content producers and not for e-commerce sites. Two relevant questions I found in the FAQ: Who will be able to use Accelerated Mobile Pages? The project is open to all players in the ecosystem - publishers, consumer platforms, and creators. What type of content will work best using Accelerated Mobile Pages? The goal is for all published content, from news stories to videos and from blogs to photographs and GIFs source: https://www.ampproject.org/docs/support/faqs.html

Tough 301 redirect with a /www in it
I am also not familiar with the plugin. I use the Redirection plugin (that's its actual name!) for WordPress redirects. Can you not specify the full URL? Otherwise, can you use /news/www.website.com because that is the path after your website.com actual URL? From the screenshots of the plugin it looks like that might work...

Getting spam Links pointing to our wrong url, what to do?
Hey Shawn, 1. If GWT is showing a 404 without a "Linked from," I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes Google tries to recrawl URLs it crawled once in the past, but that doesn't mean it's causing a problem. I would double check that you don't have any internal or external links to "blog/blog," then just "mark as fixed." There's no point to disallow Google from crawling a page that isn't there in the first place. 2. Nope. The only danger of having a long robots.txt is that you may get lost while checking your rules and accidentally disallow a page you want in the index. Whenever you add a rule to robots.txt, make sure you go to Google Search Console and use the robots.txt Tester to check if you've disallowed any important pages. Good luck! Kristina

2015 Bing Disavow, should i copy and paste from Google?
Hi there There's a good answer in this Q+A thread regarding Bing disavow. I will echo that usually what you would consider bad enough to include in your Google disavow file, probably would be good to include in your Bing disavow, but remember - these are two different search engines, so you have to treat each as their own entities - traffic, conversions, rankings, etc. It's important you analyze each and make decisions that way. Hope this helps! Good luck!

What's the correct format when you Disavow a single page? with or without www.?
If you want to disavow the whole domain, use this: domain: website.com When you submit, I'd submit to both www and non-www. But to get rid of a whole domain just use the above. Also, space after : or not doesn't matter. Domain:website.com or Domain: website.com

Disavow links of my own in niche forums that i post to regularly?
When I make decisions on links like this I base my decisions on overall intent and scale. If you've got a small handful of links like these and they're not keyword anchored then I'd leave them. But, if this is your main way of getting links then I'd be more concerned. From my experience in dealing with manual penalties, the majority of the time when Google gives us an example from a forum, it's really obvious that it's an unnatural link. It'll usually have a keyword anchor or really not make sense to be there other than for the SEO value. I would think that the same logic goes in to Penguin decisions. The other factor that may weigh in to my decision making is what other types of links come from those forum posts. If there were links to casino and porn, etc then I'd be worried Google would not like the quality of links in those forums. That doesn't sound like it applies to you. No one knows for sure, when it comes to Penguin, but that's what I'd do.

No cache still a good link for disavow?
Sure. Feel free to disavow and block that one. There was a recent well done blog post here on malware / spam referrer sites that could further help you: http://moz.com/ugc/how-to-stop-spam-bots-from-ruining-your-analytics-referral-data. Cheers!

Pagination duplicate title and meta description
That's a slick piece of code but fortunately this is no longer an issue for titles of paginated posts when running the Yoast plugin. The paginated pages say Page "#" of "total pages #".

Is there a better way to wrap schema on a testimonial page? Example website shown
Hello Shawn, I like the logo resizing on that page. It looks like you're including star ratings, and I don't see any ratings on the page. If the page doesn't include the information it shouldn't be in the source code either. Otherwise it looked good. I tested it in the Structured Data Testing Tool and didn't see any errors reported, and the ratings showed up int the SERPs. Are you still experiencing problems or is this resolved?

Local Search - Multiple Locations, do i link the home page or the inner page?
You should definitely link to the specific landing page for each location if you have separate Google+ pages for them.

Is Tumblr being used as a social algorithm for Bing and Google?
Shawn, Good question, although to me it seems like there are actually two questions in there. Social signals and backlinks are not quite the same things. Social signals arise when a link to your content is tweeted, pinned or shared on Facebook. These links are all (or nearly all) rel=nofollow, so they don't pass any authority to your site. Some folks think that social signals will affect your rankings, but earlier this year Matt Cutts made it quite clear that they don't. The value of social is then as a new source of traffic - and it can be especially valuable in terms of lead generation and list-building. Now, a post that does well on social media might attract some traditional backlinks, but it isn't the social sharing itself that will improve rankings. If you can find the right vibe on Tumblr (and you do, or you will be ignored), the community there is very active. Just like every other social site, the links are nofollow. You can hack this by hard coding a link to your site into your Tumblr's template. I'm not sure how well it works. I did this as an experiment, and the links don't show up in Moz or Webmaster Tools. So... after all that.... If the you want to reach the people using Tumblr, go ahead and Tumbl away. Don't do it for "SEO" though. Hope that helps. Michael

Removing Blogs and 301 redirect to blog home page?
Seems to me if the posts were valuable enough to link to, maybe you shouldn't be getting rid of them. You should noindex or redirect them instead. It's probably best to create a list and decide on a case-by-case basis what you want to do with them. I'd customize my 404 page to explain that a site cleanup was done on XYZ date and if you (a visitor) are here because you can't find the post you were looking for, I recommend ... and point them to your human readable sitemap or the main blog page. Then I'd go thru the post inventory and redirect the pages with links and/or social mentions to the closest related page or main blog page. The other ones I'd noindex. Any you miss will land on the 404 page and understand what has happened.
