Linking Sister-Sites - Diapers.com Example
Agreed. From a branding/UX perspective it is key. I'm just making sure there isn't anything that can hurt things. Like you said though -- if it's for the user and natural it should be fine.

Building a Large Local Services Directory - Subdomain Needed?
To be honest you can run it off the sub folders on the website I have seen recently a big website which has a directory on it: http://marketing.com.au/ Also from a link juice point of view it would be better on the sub folder. The issue is duplicant content from people copying other directories and placing the info direct on your site which can leave dup UGC. If you website is established and already has ranks then I would go with the sub domain. you really need to put a internal case together and look at all options both positive and negative.

A Blog Structure Dilemma We're Facing...
Matt Cutts Subdomains vs. Subdirectories What's the difference between using subdomains and subdirectories? When it comes to Google, there aren't major differences between the two, so when you're making that decision, do what works for you and your visitors. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/01/feeling-lucky-at-pubcon.html Deb, it really is a pretty personal choice. For something small like a blog, it probably won’t matter terribly much. I used a subdirectory because it’s easier to manage everything in one file storage space for me. However, if you think that someday you might want to use a hosted blog service to power your blog, then you might want to go with blog.example.com just because you could set up a CNAME or DNS alias so that blog.example.com pointed to your hosted blog service. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/subdomains-and-subdirectories/

Duplicate Product BUT Unique Content -- any issues?
Great input -- and #2 is exactly what we are planning. This all came up because of User Experience and I wanted to confirm we were not missing anything from the on-site technical seo end. Really we're talking about a different product that has the same price and possibly some of the same images and specs. Thanks!

Unique Product Descriptions Vs. Speedy Launch
A 3rd option would be to go live soon, but only with products that have the new unique content created. Then add products as the new descriptions are complete.
