Hi Tim,
Thanks for your reply. I also disawod the links, hope this will keep us safe. It looks like something automatically, like the xrumer forum spam
We receive links from fake websites, these website are copy's from real websites that link to us, but sometimes the links are changes, as for example one link is called 'tank weapon with hitler', we are a insurance comparison website (a bit of topic).
The real websites that link to us are copied and placed on .ga .tk etc domains:
For example: wahlrsinnsa.ga, loungihngsa.ga, pajapritosa.cf, rgeitsportsa.cf, sospesvoasa.tk
I received spam links on other domains with comments spam etc, this doesnt really work, but in this case we really suffer in our rankings (from position 1 to 5 etc). Not sure if this is negative SEO and if this is really the reason we lost some rankings, but it's a bit of a coincidence the domains come in google webmaster in the same period we suffer a downgrade in our rankings.
My question: Is this negative SEO, or is it something automatic. And do I need to disavow the links/domains? The real versions of the websites (on other domains with .nl) give the website autority.
We want to use some movement in our designs, charts etc. what format is the most SEO friendly?
Hi Tine,
Did you already updated the geo targetting in GWT, and maybe you can try a different IP and update you content and site structure. Maybe you can also try one domain to target both French and Belgium, instead of separate domains.
Hi Chris,
Think you're right. We go for plan B.
Thanks
hi there,
For one of our insurance websites we acquired a domain, this domain is going to be redirected to our domain. After some research we discovered the domain we've bought also includes other domains which 301 redirect to specific 'insurance products'. These domains are also included in the deal. But what is the best technical solution for redirecting these specific redirected product domains? They already redirect to the product pages of the domain we've bought, so after redirect this domain, the sub (product) redirected domains will also link to us. It would be like this:
A) www.sub-carinsurancesite.nl (301) -> www.domain-we-bought.com/car-insurance -> www.ourdomain.com/car-insurance
B) www.sub-carinsurancesite.nl (301) -> www.ourdomain.com/car-insurance
&
www.domain-we-bought.com/car-insurance -> www.ourdomain.com/car-insurance
etc
Hi Miriam,
Thanks, and i understand it's not the right way. But this is how we rank #1 (in maps) on 'plumber amsterdam' (loodgieter amsterdam). When we remove the citation, we loose lots of our traffic, and it is harder to rank organic also for the plumber + city combinations.
Hi Miriam,
We have a general brandname (no EMD/PMD), but we are listed in google my business (local places) as a plumbing company. Does this influences the ranking opportunity for other local services.
Hi Miriam,
Thanks, what is the upside of using a new domain or brand instead of adding new pages to the old brand? Is it hard for the old brand (because listed as local plumber business) to rank on other services?
We had a strange thing happen to our website. We have a website that ranks for top keywords for some years. Last week we lost alle of our rankings for one day. The strange thing was, that the rankings were only lost on the homepage, the homepage didnt rank anymore. Even when i googled for 'homepage.com' google showed 'homepage.com/page' and not the homepage.
After some reading i checked for the following:
With no rankings on the homepage i was losing 90% of the traffic, i went to GWT and did a fetch as google request, the website looked okay. After that i request a new indexation request. After this the website was back in google with all the old rankings.
But what has happend, is still a question for me. Can this be an hack or a wordpress problem or is this realtime penguin with a hit. I also read things about Google flux, but it didnt happen before and it was just the homepage, with no index at all. What happend?
Hi, thanks,
its a lead generation platform with local pages for local contractors. We are now focussing on plumbing, but we would like to rank for keywords in other contracting services. We now only developed content for plumbing on this domain.
We have a lead generation website in the Netherlands in the plumber business. The last two years we were focussing on local SEO, and gain some rankings on keywords like 'plumber amsterdam'. We also connected google my local business in different city's, so we rank in both the citations as in maps. Now we want to get some rankings with the lead generation brand on other keywords. Keywords for other markets like 'handyman' 'roofer' etc.
Google remembers what kind of business we are, since we are listed as plumbing company. My question is, can we still go for those other markets with the brand? The markets/ keywords are related and all in the home improvement segment. So for example, example.com/plumber example.com/roofer etc.
The other option is to target those specific markets with other brands/ domains.
hi Ria, thanks, guess thats the best strategy,
Hi Moz community,
A quesiton about our dutch travel insurance website. Two weeks ago we had a ranking drop from 17 to position 35. The project is still fresh (we started in may this year). I quess penguin 4.0 didn't like our rapid linkbuilding. But we also receive a message in page optimization tool for keyword stuffing. When we analyze the homepage www.reisverzekering.net for reisverzekering (meaning travel insurance) Moz suggests to avoid keywords stuffing.
But I dont understand, we don't use the keyword that much and Yoast doesnt give this message. How much key
yes could be - but I just don't like errors
hi monica thanks - see the attachments
We have a domain in the netherlands that shows stars (rich snippets) in adwords and in the organic search results. As we do the the in rich snippets test tool we see some errors as shown in the attachments, the errors are shown in review aggregate - but stars are stil shown in paid and organic search.
Do we need to follow-up these errors? Do they influence ranking - or the stars in the near future?
thanks erica, so it doesn't matter if you 301 redirect like glaspunt.nl or like fietstassen.eu both redirects give an equal amount of linkpower?
Hi Keszi thanks for you clear explanation and you're correct that 'fietstassen' is not handy-man business
But the thing I want to know is the way both domains are redirect in a different way. Fietstassen in redirected in the way that the domain (fietstassen) stays visible. Glaspunt is redirected with a 301 redirect in the root server. Is there any advantage in one of them?
What is the best way to redirect for best SEO benefits? Examples:
fietstassen.eu -> loodgieter.nl
Any technical information how to (root) redirect for best SEO practices?
