Dan totally nailed this here. In essence, use pages for static content and posts for news, blogs etc. If your site is mostly static, use pages. If you are coming at this from a purely 'SEO benefit' perspective then you are not going to get an SEO bump from forcing static content into posts or vice versa.

Where can I find knowledgeable website developers that know about proper seo!? The best advice I can offer on this topic is, don't try to combine these two jobs into one person. I know some great web developers. I know some great SEOs. I don't know any one person who is great at both. I have met many web developers who are certain they "know" SEO, but they really don't have any real SEO understanding. The opposite is likely true as well. I mention this information as a cautionary against any individual who may present themselves to you as such a person. Find the best SEO you can, find the best Magento programmer you can, then have the SEO evaluate your site, make recommendations and have the Magento expert make the necessary changes.

I would use the current posts as the blog area of the eCommerce website, I would then create new cats for the products you actually want to push. If you find one of your posts is relevant to a product I would then create an anchor text link back to the product, I would even keep that blog section running with the posts and keep linking out to products when relevant.

A few things I noticed: Almost all your pages try to get /skin/frontend/blank/default/css/menu.css once and /js/livechat/js.js twice, and these files don't exist and return a 404. Are you allowed to change that 404 page to something more suited to your site, with your header and footer?  If so, I'd change it from the hostgator default. #5 could be quite an undertaking... positioning the text just right, controlling for wrapping in different browsers.
