Best way to analyze keyword difficulty for 10,000+ keywords?
I would also love to find an accurate way to instantly measure competition for a bulk list of keywords. Unfortunately, I think it's the inherent nature of this request that the tool is either going to be quick and inaccurate/outdated OR accurate and slow because keyword difficulty is determined by organic competition which requires querying a search engine's organic listings for each keyword to grab a list of URLs, then analyzing the on-page factors, then analyzing inbound links for each of those URLs, and then comparing all of these against each other to determine how competitive each phrase is. And considering most users want to find out difficult a keyword is to rank for in Google then that means most tools will need to query Google's rankings/API in real-time for every single keyword to get the most accurate results, but that also means this process is going to take some time, especially since Google actively tries to prevent tools from automatically grabbing/scraping their results (as Raven, WordStream and SEOmoz all found out just recently). Anyways, I realize I'm not answering your question so I want to offer some suggestions, even if they are not exactly perfect - 1. Long Tail Pro - My favorite keyword research tool as of late, and they actually just released a new feature which allows you to import keyword lists up to 10,000 of your own keywords to check competition. However, since it queries Google, it's not going to be instant... however it does seem to be more robust and faster than my next suggestion. 2. Market Samurai - great for keyword research/competitive analysis but it can be somewhat slow. Their newest update features more competition metrics which look pretty useful.

Best practices for robotx.txt -- allow one page but not the others?
SEOmoz used to use Google Search for the site. I am confident Google has a solid method for keeping their own results clean. It appears SEOmoz recently changed their search widget. If you examine the URL you shared, notice none of the search results actually appear in the HTML of the page. For example, load the view-source URL and perform a find (CTRL+F) for "testing" which is the subject of the search. There are no results. Since the results are not in the page's HTML, they would not get indexed.

Do total number of links in main navigation play a role in ranking?
I'm a little confused to your questions. Can you explain a little more. Internal Link structure does have correlation with rankings. I really should say that "smart internal linking" has correlation to rankings. Also, external links (obviously) It may be a situation where some pages are linked to more than others. Have you used any tools (opensiteexplorer.org or WebMasterTools) to see your site's links? If you can, post a link to your site so we can see it and explain a little more about your questions.

Image Alt tags--always include the targeted keyword?
Related-ish question: I have a site-wide banner on a website with a theme related to mine with the alt tag containing an exact-match keyword. It's on 2,500 pages. Post-Penguin, am I inviting trouble? Should I play it safe and have it on, say, just a handful of pages -- or even just the homepage?

Does 'jump to' navigation work with a hidden div?
The best I can think of would be to link to the anchors from the page the "level" above. In other words, on a category page (or equivalent), display links to the page plus its named anchors (actually, much like Google's sitelinks). It's impossible to weigh up the relative weight of links from within the page to links from elsewhere on the site without inside knowledge, but I would prefer this to hidden links.

Link + noindex vs canonical--which is better?
Can I ask a question that leads on from this - how attractive a proposition is syndicated content it to publishers if you ask them to add a noindex / cross-domain canonical as well as a link from your article? Surely they want a chance to rank, expecially if they are planning on adding their own take and UGC, to differentiate it where possible, as Rand advises here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-leveraging-syndicated-content-effectively Personally, content syndication is not something I would ever recommend for a client due to the complications from dupe content outweighing the benefits from links that could be earned...it just makes more work when that time could be spent on high quality guest blogging (in my view). However, a new client is really interested in doing it. But if we offer content for those terms (link + noindex / cross domain canonical) - will there be any interest to use the syndicated articles at all?! Maybe it would be better to offer the content in return for a link and a guarantee that they will either add unique content to it or canonicalize / noindex?

Does link building through content syndication still actually work?
Thanks. I would love to hear if anyone has seen any SEO benefit from just straight syndication.

Tips for Getting into Bing News?
Hi Keri, Yes I know, maybe I didn’t express good myself. From this what I know the search engines pick up news according to some criteria. You can’t submit them directly. So in my opinion to appear there you have to release a real press release. Something what will make the people to link immediately on it. To receive instant popularity. Example. Me I am reading every day news on the Cyprus news papers. The same news they are posted on the net the same day. Most of them don’t even appear in the news from search engines. That means that are not newsworthy enough. So, I give one example now. When this happened, all people got mad and they start to share the news, on Facebook, twitter, post it on blogs, post it on news sites etc. That was in international news sites all over the world. Immediately the search engine news included it in. So in my opinion that you get there you have to release a press article which will make the people to start immediately to share , backlink on it, post in their blogs etc. So the answer is so simple. Just give them some real news. That’s why I answer so simple to michelleh. less than 1 hour ago If I am wrong correct me.

Most efficient way to analyze kw difficulty for thousands of kws?
One tool I occasionally find useful for larger lists is market samurai. It's a free keyword analysis tool much loved by sectors of the market that don't frequent seomoz as much. Can be useful though. The tool itself is actually a paid one, but you can use it in free mode and get a few features. All the keyword research stuff is included in the free version and is actually more useful than most of the paid stuff!
