Does anyone know how to successfully rank a Youtube video on Google Search?
Hey Neil, I just wanted to add that putting an accurate transcript next to the video is another way to get Google to crawl what's in the video, and this can be optimized for long/short tail terms if a script is written prior to filming. Also, along the same lines as what Dana was saying, you should think about what the purpose of your videos will be; conversion or brand awareness. If you want to build links and increase traffic, put interesting, quirky videos on YouTube. If you want to increase conversion rates, put product/service videos on your website. You can also add Meta data to your video if they are self hosted, which will aid in getting rich snippets for your videos in SERPS. I know Phil Nottingham has an excellent video on Distilled that talks about this, maybe someone here at SEOMoz could link to that if it's available anywhere other than through DistilledU?
