Optimising for terms which are not in line with brand guidelines
I can't say for sure, but my experience with Google recently would suggest that having it on the page will not matter. You could remove instances of it, but there are probably external signals that will let SEs understand that you used to go by name. Same how they understand that a vehicle, car, and auto are generally the same thing.

Express js and SEO?
Hi Allie McFadyen, I am not familiar with using express.js and Angular, but since it is JavaScript based then historically Google has had issues with JS in the past. Now, Google says they can now crawl JS, but still there are issues that might arise that can hinder your sites SEO if not done properly. It seems like the test you have done has shown that it is not crawlable and viewable, but have you tried creating your own test page and then using the "Fetch as Google" tool within Google Search Console? Even if the test comes back and it is crawlable, I would always be cautious using a technology that has questionable SEO results. To this day I am still cautious using JavaScript in certain sections of a website, even though Google says they can crawl it. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Kevin

301 redirects delay in picking up
Hi Aleyda, Thanks for the response. The website is a .com and actually attracts visitors internationally, although none of the content is aimed at specific countries. The content is more or less the same as it was on the original version though. We use categories on the website, though due to the fact w can add no content to category pages we have created content page to look and feel like a category page , set the categories to no index and ensured the content pages that replace them are the rel-canonical. Visitor numbers are starting to improve steadily now.

Two domains / same Content
Hi Guys, Thanks so much for the responses - I will speak to the client. They were totally unaware of the impact that this would have on them and they were in fact told they must do this (this was by one of the largest web dev. companies in NZ btw!)

Optimising Widgets of Content with Yoast
Hi Allie Stramark has the right idea. That aspect of Yoast is a tool just for you to help with keyword targeting. It doesn't actually impact the SEO of your page though. You could try something like Moz's On-Page grader. Unfortunately, knowing if you can get Yoast's tool to work, would require knowing how the site was in fact coded. It might be a simple fix, or it might be tricky. I'd see if you can ask the developer though, maybe it's an easy fix. -Dan

Best Practices for Image Optimisation
Martijn is correct. I would recommend a subdomain as the last resort. It sounds like the pics have great SEO value. I would also recommend your client watch this WBF. It covers many aspects including touching on video. https://moz.com/blog/panda-optimization-whiteboard-friday
