Hey Dan thanks a lot for all your help!
There still is a problem though. A while ago I had created an adult subdomain: adult.mywebsite.com
Then I completely deleted everything inside it (even though I noticed the subfolder is still in my account).
A few days ago, when I started this thread, I also created a GWMT account for adult.mywebsite.com and submitted a removal request for all those URLs (about 15).
Now today when I check:
site:mywebsite.com
or
site.adult.mywebsite.com
the URLs still appear in search results.
When I check
cache:adult.mywebsite.comit sends me to a google 404 page:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?/complete/search?client=hp&hl=en&gs_rn=31&gs_ri=hp&cp=26&gs_id=s xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So I don't know what this means...
Does it mean google hasn't deindexed them?
How do I get them deindexed?
Is it possible google is having troubles de-indexing them because they have no content in them or something like that?
What should I do to get rid of them?
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!
Fabio
Hi Dan,
1. Ok! I will.
2. When I click on the /go/ link in search results it redirects me to the affiliate website. I asked for the removal of /go/ a few days ago, but they (about 30 results) still appear in google when I search with the site:mywebsite.com trick.
What should I do about it? How can I get rid of them? They were created with the SimpleUrl plugin which I deleted about 3 months ago though.
3. Got it!
Thanks!
Fabio
Hey Dan,
thanks for the quick reply.
I have gone trough site:mywebsite.com and I found that tags and categories disappeared but there still is some content that shouldn't be indexed like this:
mywebsite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-flash-countdown/counter_cs3_v2_NoReflectLight.swf
and this:
mywebsite.com/go/affiliate-product/
and I found this:Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/
in my robots.txt
Thing is that:
Thank you so much for your help!So far you have been the most helpful answerer in this forum.
Hey Dan, thanks a lot for your help.
I have tried the cache trick on my home page and the cached version was about 4-5 days old.
I have then tried to cache:mywebsite/tag/ and it gives me a google 404 not found which I suppose is a good sign.
But if they have been de-indexed why do they appear in search results then?
I am not sure how to check the double SEO no-index in the source code though. How do I do that exactly? What should I look for after right-clicking -> source code?
Thanks for your help!
My MOZ account ends in two days so I may not be able to reply back next time.
Hey Dan thanks,
well, so google had indexed all my tags, categories and stuff.
The only things I had blocked in my robots was
/go/ for affiliate links
and
/plugins/ for plugins
so I did let google see that categories and archives pages were no-indexed.
I have also submit the removal request many months ago but I haven't quite understood what you say about the cache dates. What should I check?
Thanks for your help!
Hi there,
I know that it takes time and I have already submitted a URL removal request 3-4 months ago.
But I would really appreciate some kind advice on this topic.
Thank you in advance to everyone who contributes!
1) De-indexing archives
Google had indexed all my:
/tag/
/authorname/
archives.
I have set them as no-index a few months ago but they still appear in search engine.
Is there anything I can do to speed up this de-indexing?
2) De-index /plugins/ folder in wordpress site
They have also indexed all my /plugins/ folder. So I have added a disallow /plugin/ in my robots.txt 3-4 months ago, but /plugins/ still appear in search engine.
What can I do to get the /plugins/ folder de-indexed?
Is my disallow /plugins/ in robots.txt making it worse because google has already indexed it and not it can't access the folder? How do you solve this?
3) De-index a subdomain
I had created a subdomain containing adult content, and have it completely deleted it from my cpanel 3months ago, but it still appears in search engines.
Anything else I can do to get it de-indexed?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hi,
I've posted my question in google websmaster forum but no reply.
Are you allowed to 301 redirect the clickable link in your youtube video to an affiliate site?
Hi there,
I'm creating a new website and I would like to start it in the best possible way. Content is the last of my problems, so is back links and social media. But I would appreciate your advice from an architectural point of view.
In my current sites I've been struggling organizing menus, categories and internal links in an SEO friendly way. I just haven't got it yet
how to create an architecture that is both userfriendly and SEO optimized.
Could someone please give me some tips or point me to a recent article to build a SEO optimized website architecture?
How many menus in a page?
Keywords in the menu?
keywords in submenu?
Menu linking to categories or specific articles?
How many internal links?
permalinks with /category/ or /post-name/
menu in footer?
category including keyword?
categories in sidebar?
how many links is too many?
if in a page I have 101 links and nofollow 100 of them, does it count like if I have 1 link for SEO?
Basically all things related to setting up a linking architecture in a website to optimize organic traffic.
Thanks
Fabio
Hi Dan, thanks.
Thing is that there are hundreds of those "seomoz" bits inside my posts and it would really take a long time to remove them manually.
Are they harmful in any way? or can I just leave them?
Thank you
Hi Dan,
thanks for your reply.
So basically are you saying that an external plugin adds "seomoz" pieces of code inside my posts? Why should they do that? What do they get by adding "seomoz" codes inside my posts?
Anyways, I don't think it's the plugin. I've created a new post today and used it to create nofollow links and the seomoz thing didnt appear.
I'm thinking it appeared in the posts I have created while I was using the mozbar a few months ago maybe?
But if that's the case, how can the mozbar put code in my posts?
Could you please explain?
Thank you
Hi,
Yes the code end up both inside my posts and in the source code.
If I delete it from the text editor it disappears from the source code too and when I refresh it doesn't show up anymore
It shows up every time I add no-follow to a link right next to the nofollow attribute. I'm using the Ultimate Nofollow plugin if that matter.
Thanks
Thanks Dan,
I guess you never stop learning...
But what about the SEOmoz code inside my posts? Did you take a look at them in the screenshots I've attached before?
PS. I've unistalled the moz toolbar more than 3 months ago.
Thanks
Hi,
thanks.
Please take a look at the screenshot.
I do not have any moz bar installed.
If davidnaylor, seobook and opensiteexplorer are not tracking my website's date, what are those names doing in my website's code?
What's the whole purpose of it? Backlinks? Do they just like it or what?
Thanks for your help
I'm sorry Lesley, but I'd rather avoid that.
But you can take a look at these screenshots
I'm not using the toolbar at all.
I used it a few months ago and uninstalled it back then.
Does that mean I'll keep having that code inside my posts forever? Please take a look at the screenshot.
Thanks
Thanks but you haven't understood the question at all.
Hey Lesley,
thanks for your reply, and for taking the time to do the screenshots but I'm not using any add-on at all. I did use them in the past and know how they look like.
When I open one of my posts and pages and go to edit them in "text mode" I find inside my own posts these pieces of code:<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p"></a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p">They are inside my posts and I have deleted some of them manually, but there are so many that I really would like someone from MOZ to tell me:</a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p">1) How and who gave them permission to put that stuff inside my own posts
The other problem was with the source code, but I guess YOAST sells website's datas to SEO companies through is SEO plugin and I simply need to get rid of that rubbish.</a>
Hi Keri,
what about this:
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p"></a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p">My posts are full of them. How did this code end up inside my posts? It doesn't make any sense...</a>
Hey Lesley,
first thank you very much for your reply.
I've tried to open an incognito/private window and looked at the source code from there and those links disappeared.
I'm guessing it's a plugin. I'm actually quite sure it's the SEO plugin by yoast. But I've also found some other pieces of code inside my own posts!
ANd they do belong to MOZ:
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p"></a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p">How did this thing end up in my posts?</a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p"></a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="</p">I think we are dealing with two different things, and while I guess I just need to delete YOAST plugin, I've no intention to manually remove all those</a><a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="from" my="" posts="" (there="" are="" hundreds="" of="" them)<="" p=""></a>
<a class="seomoz-highlight seomoz-highlight-nofollow" title="from" my="" posts="" (there="" are="" hundreds="" of="" them)<="" p="">Thanks</a>
