Requesting Link
Hi Lauren, This technique can be very effective but it is getting harder to do because as you say, people need a reason to link and often don't like linking out. My question would be - does your colleague have a page on your website? Something such as a profile page? If they do, then this may be a good way of providing a reason for the link because it's crediting the right person with the quote. Another possibility - have they used a photo of your colleague? Again if they have, then that may be another route. I know this may be a little too late, but I wanted to mention it for the future - the quicker you can contact someone after an article has been published, the better chance you have of getting the link. You mentioned that the article in Reuters was from a few months ago which makes it tougher for you. So I'd advise trying to react as quickly as possible to things like this using a tool such as Buzzsumo of Fresh Web Explorer to find fresh mentions of people's names. I hope that helps! Paddy

HUGE spike in Google Analytics Traffic
I am in the same boat as you Lauren. What I am struggling to come to terms with is that when looking at the user flow report, there is a lot of movement on the site internally to and from this page indicating that this is not a spam bot. I tried isolating many factors but arrived at a loss. There was one thing I checked which helped me see that the data may indeed be skewed. View these two reports and tell me if they are showing the same data: Behaviour > Site Content > All pages (primary dimension of page) Behaviour > Site Content > All pages (primary dimension of page title) Those two reports give me very different results. page report shows the massive spike while page title is more realistic. I am also looking for a possible explanation to this. Posted up on Google forums too, waiting to see if anyone can help - https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/analytics/stvN44gwYU4;context-place=forum/analytics

Moz Local Listing Score
Hi Laura, Thanks for writing us, and we would be happy to take a look. if possible can you email this question to help@moz.com. We know that providing listing information on a public forum is not the greatest experience so by emailing help@moz.com a helpster should be able to review the account to make sure that everything is in tip top shape. One thing that I will say is that listing information generally takes about four weeks to update but it can take up to eight. Hopefully once we take a peek we will be able to get everything sorted and your account back to its wonderful status.

Missing Links
Such a good response Richard. To piggyback this a bit, if a link provides you real value and is relevant to your site, go after it - even if it's not listed in a tool. We need to stop looking at links as a SEO only item and really look at them as a value add to our business. Don't worry about Google and other search engines when it comes to links your intuition tell you are valuable or relevant. They'll catch up and you'll be on the right side of history.

Getting Google Plus Page to Appear
Assuming this is your page -- https://plus.google.com/+ExchangeCapitalManagementIncAnnArbor/about -- about the only thing I could suggest is get some reviews. That would show more engagement than anything else. The Google+ page showed up when I searched for your company's name, but then I'm nowhere near Michigan.

URL Structure
Ouch. The only thing I'd add to Donford's comments is you're going to want to limit the redirect chain as much as possible when renaming files and folders for a third time. If you can go directly from original folder/file to newly renamed folder/file and skip the interim non-SEO-friendly URLs, that would be best. That said, you're going to have to bear in mind and plan for any newly acquired bookmarks and/or links since the relaunch.

MozLocal Listing Results
Depends on the date you submit and also how quickly you plan on doing the leg work to correct duplicates and other issues you will run into with your existing listings. In my most recent experience, I think it was like 6 weeks.

Enhancing SEO Between WordPress Blog and Company Website
Joey, Thanks for your response. To answer your questions, the blog has a totally different URL. However, as I mentioned, a snippet of each entry is embedded into a page on our website, followed by a "read more" link that directs the viewer to our separate blog. As far as integration, I agree that it seems like the best choice here. However, I'm fairly new to this and don't have full control of the final changes made to the website, blog, etc. To my knowledge, our decision to host separately in the first place was because we wanted the ability to individually share/publish posts via LinkedIn. Again, thanks for your feedback. It is much appreciated! Lauren
